Campgrounds and RV parks near Kootenay Boundary E / West Boundary, BC

The West Boundary area sits in southern British Columbia along the Kettle River valley, roughly centred on the community of Rock Creek. It is part of the Okanagan-Boundary region, with Osoyoos about 45 minutes west and Kelowna about 90 minutes northwest via Highway 33. Stands of Ponderosa pine interspersed with open areas of bunchgrass characterize the recreation area that lies astride the Kettle River, situated between the Okanagan Plateau and the Monashee Mountains. Camping options cluster along the Kettle River and Highway 3. Kettle River Recreation Area is one of the largest and most popular destination family campgrounds in the Okanagan-Boundary Region, located minutes from amenities in Rock Creek. Smaller options nearby include Johnstone Creek Provincial Park just off Highway 3 west of Rock Creek, and private sites such as Rock Creek Station and Blaine Memorial Campground. For a more remote experience, Conkle Lake Provincial Park sits on a secluded lake in the sub-alpine Kettle Valley area on gravel access roads north of Bridesville. Together these campgrounds cover river-front family camping, quiet forested stopovers, serviced private sites and a rustic lakeside base for paddling and fishing.

Provincial-park sites are booked through the BC Parks reservation system. Reservations can be made via camping.bcparks.ca or by calling 1-800-689-9025 toll-free from Canada and the US. Frontcountry camping reservations are available three months in advance on a rolling window, and reservations for Kettle River are accepted for arrival dates from mid-May through Labour Day. Reservations are strongly recommended during peak season, though lucky last-minute campers might find a spot in July and August. Not every park takes bookings for individual sites. At Conkle Lake, individual sites are first come, first served, though group campsite reservations are accepted through the BC Parks reservations system. Johnstone Creek is also first come, first served. Rock Creek Station and Blaine Memorial Campground are booked directly with the operator by phone or through their websites.
