Paddling is the signature activity. Porpoise Bay makes an excellent basecamp for paddlers exploring Sechelt Inlet, and kayak rentals are available outside the park in Tuwanek. Farther north, Pender Harbour Resort And Marina and Bathgate General Store Resort and Marina put boaters within reach of Jervis Inlet, Princess Louisa, and the Skookumchuck Narrows tidal rapids. On shore, families use Porpoise Bay for swimming and beach play. The park offers 84 vehicle-accessible campsites, a group campsite, day-use area, pit and flush toilets, hot showers, and an adventure playground. Forested trails along Angus Creek lead to a bridge over the creek and mudflats of the estuary, where waterfowl, shorebirds, harbour seals, and bald eagles may be observed year-round. Back Eddy Marina Resort at Egmont is the standard stop before viewing the Skookumchuck tidal rapids on a big-exchange day.

The camping season on the Sunshine Coast follows the standard BC Parks calendar. Porpoise Bay typically operates as a reservable campground from about mid-April to mid-October, and reduced or no facilities are available outside that window. Saltery Bay operates on a similar shoulder-to-summer window, with limited services outside peak months. July and August are the busiest weeks. BC Parks recommends making a reservation to stay at Porpoise Bay during July and August, cash is the only accepted method of payment at the park, and cyclists can always be accommodated at the cyclists' campsite. Weekends fill first; midweek arrivals in June and September usually find more availability. Fall and winter shift the focus. Chum and coho salmon spawn in Angus Creek and can be observed in the fall. Wet-season storms, short daylight, and closed washroom buildings make winter trips practical only for self-contained RVs, and campfires at individual sites are not permitted at Porpoise Bay, where only propane fire pits are allowed.

Access is by ferry, not bridge. RV renters cross from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, then drive Highway 101 north; reaching the upper coast requires a second ferry from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay. Build ferry wait times into arrival planning, especially on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings in summer. Provincial park sites tend to be shaded and forested with gravel pads. Campsites at Porpoise Bay are on the smaller side, dogs are not allowed on any beaches in the park, and only propane fire pits are permitted at individual sites. Generator use is only allowed between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cell coverage is reliable in Sechelt and Gibsons but patchy north of Pender Harbour. Groceries, propane, and RV supplies are easiest to source in Sechelt before heading up-coast.
