Campgrounds near Harvey, New Brunswick
Harvey sits in southern New Brunswick within the lower Saint John River valley, a region shaped by the river, Belleisle Bay, and the Kingston Peninsula. The setting is mixed Acadian forest, farmland, and small rural communities, giving RV travellers a quiet base with reasonable access to both Saint John and Fredericton.
RV options in the wider area range from full-service private parks to riverside grounds. Hidden Valley Campground and Mohawk Camping cater to trailer and motorhome travellers with hookup sites. Oak Point Kiwanis Park offers waterfront camping along the Saint John River, set among century-old oak trees with a swimming beach and boat launch. Coy Lake Camping RV Park Ltd and RiverRun Campground round out the choices with lake and river frontage popular for swimming and paddling.
Most properties in this part of New Brunswick are family-run and open seasonally, with the main season concentrated from late May through early October.
Things to do near Harvey
The area is built around the Saint John River system and its tributaries. Oak Point Kiwanis Park has a freshwater swimming beach, picnic shelter, and a boat launch, and stands beside the tallest lighthouse on the Saint John River. Belleisle Bay and the wider river system draw kayakers, canoeists, and anglers, and several campgrounds have their own frontage for swimming and paddling.
Day trips fan out in several directions. Saint John lies to the south, with the Bay of Fundy waterfront, the City Market, and Reversing Falls. Fredericton is about an hour north for riverfront trails, markets, and museums. Farther east, Fundy National Park protects a rugged coastline with the world's highest tides, more than 25 waterfalls, and a large network of hiking and biking trails.

The camping season in southern New Brunswick is short and concentrated. Most private grounds open in May and close by mid-October. July and August bring the warmest weather and the busiest weekends, especially around Canada Day and the August civic holiday, when waterfront sites fill first.
June and September are the sweet spots for RV travellers who prefer quieter grounds. Blackflies taper off through June, days remain long, and river and lake water is warm enough for swimming by late June. September offers cool nights, thinning crowds, and early fall colour through the Acadian forest along the river valley.
Winter closes almost all commercial campgrounds in the area. Roads remain open, but hookups are shut down, and snow, freezing rain, and cold snaps are routine from December through March.

This little camper was PERFECT for my daughter and her 3 yr old twins !! Surprisingly more room than I thought there would be ! Caroline and her husband were amazing to deal with !! We camped off grid for a week and the camper handled it fine and we only had to run the generator for one afternoon to charge things back up ! I’d definitely rent this again !!

How to book
Private campgrounds around Harvey take reservations directly by phone, email, or their own websites. Popular waterfront sites at Oak Point Kiwanis Park, Coy Lake Camping RV Park Ltd, and RiverRun Campground fill first for July and August weekends, so booking two to three months ahead is advised for peak dates. Hidden Valley Campground and Mohawk Camping also take direct bookings.
Travellers extending the trip to Fundy National Park book through the Parks Canada Reservation Service. Parks Canada launches reservations for the visitor season in January, with launch dates varying by location. Serviced sites and roofed accommodations such as oTENTiks and yurts sell out quickly for summer weekends, so setting a calendar reminder for the launch date is worthwhile.
What to expect on arrival
Roads into the Harvey area are paved and RV-friendly, with Route 1 and connecting provincial routes providing the main approaches. Cell coverage is generally good along the highways and in the villages, but can drop out on side roads leading to riverside campgrounds. Grocery stores, fuel, and propane are available in Hampton, Sussex, and Saint John.
Site styles vary. Expect a mix of pull-through and back-in sites, mostly with 15 or 30 amp electrical service, and a smaller number of 50 amp sites at newer parks. Many properties have on-site swimming, playgrounds, and boat launches. Firewood is usually sold by the bundle on-site; importing firewood is prohibited at Fundy National Park and discouraged region-wide to limit invasive pests.
Blackflies and mosquitoes peak in late spring. Bring repellent, and expect cool overnight temperatures even in mid-summer.
