Campgrounds and RV parks near St. George, NB

St. George sits on Route 1 in Charlotte County, on the Magaguadavic River just inland from the Bay of Fundy. It functions as a practical base for RV travellers exploring the Fundy Coastal Drive, Passamaquoddy Bay, and the islands of Deer, Campobello, and Grand Manan. The town is roughly an hour west of Saint John and about 30 minutes east of the Maine border at St. Stephen. Campground options in the surrounding area span provincial parks, municipal parks, and privately owned sites. Island View Camping and Seaview Campground and Cottages are mainland-side options, while Kiwanis Passamaquoddy Park in St. Andrews offers a waterfront municipal setting. For island stays, Deer Island Point Park sits at the southern tip of Deer Island above the Old Sow tidal whirlpool, and Herring Cove Provincial Park is located on Campobello Island, reached via a free year-round ferry from L'Etete to Deer Island and then a seasonal toll ferry from Deer Island to Campobello. Distances between these campgrounds are short by map, but ferry schedules and tides shape realistic travel times.

Provincial park sites at Herring Cove Provincial Park are reserved through the NB Parks reservation system at parcsnbparks.ca. Nightly reservations for the upcoming season typically open in early February, with a separate window in mid-January for seasonal sites. Popular electric sites and rustic shelters go quickly for July and August weekends. Herring Cove has 88 sites, of which 40 have electricity, plus five rustic shelters. Kiwanis Passamaquoddy Park in St. Andrews and Deer Island Point Park are run at the municipal or community level and are usually booked directly with the campground office by phone or through their websites. Island View Camping and Seaview Campground and Cottages are private operations booked directly with the owners. For Campobello Island stays, factor in the seasonal Deer Island to Campobello toll ferry when planning arrival times.
