Campgrounds near Arnprior, Ontario
Arnprior sits at the junction of the Madawaska and Ottawa Rivers in Renfrew County, about an hour west of downtown Ottawa. The town serves as a practical base for RV travellers exploring the Ottawa Valley, with paved highway access via Highway 417 and Highway 17, full-service grocery and fuel in town, and a dump station accessible during the operating season at the nearest provincial park.
The closest full-service option is Riverbend Park, positioned along the water within easy reach of town amenities. Fitzroy Provincial Park, roughly a 25-minute drive east near Fitzroy Harbour, is the anchor public campground in the area and the most established option for RV camping on the Ottawa River. Private resorts including Bayview Lodge Resort, Cedar Cove Resort, and Serenity Hills Campground round out the choices, offering seasonal and weekly stays for travellers who want cottage-country amenities without leaving the valley.
Most campgrounds in the area are seasonal, running roughly mid-May through mid-October, with winter camping limited to a few private operators.
Things to do near Arnprior
The Ottawa River dominates recreation in this area. Swimming, paddling, and fishing for smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, and panfish are the standard warm-weather activities, and Fitzroy Provincial Park maintains two sandy beaches and a boat launch suitable for small craft, canoes, and kayaks.
On land, Fitzroy's Terraces Trail is a two-kilometre loop that follows glacial landforms and boulders along the riverbank, while the shorter Carp Trail winds through a mixed forest along the Carp River. Both are beginner-friendly and manageable with children. In town, Arnprior's Robert Simpson Park and the Nick Smith Centre give families indoor and outdoor backup options for rainy afternoons.
Day trips are easy: downtown Ottawa is about an hour east, the village of Carp with its Saturday farmers' market is 25 minutes away, and the Bonnechere Caves and Algonquin Park's eastern entrances lie farther west into the valley.

The Arnprior camping season is short and concentrated. Fitzroy Provincial Park operates from roughly mid-May through mid-October, with most private campgrounds in the area following a similar window. Outside those dates the provincial park closes, water is shut off, and the dump station is locked.
July and August are peak. Weekends fill early, and the Canada Day long weekend around July 1 books the fastest given proximity to Ottawa. Expect warm days, warm river water, and heavy blackfly and mosquito pressure in late spring and early June that eases through July. The Victoria Day long weekend in late May is traditionally the season's first busy weekend and draws heavy enforcement of noise and behaviour rules across Ontario Parks.
Shoulder season is the sweet spot for RV travellers who want space. Late May, early June, and September deliver open sites, cooler nights, and, in September, fall colour along the Ottawa Valley. Winter travel is limited to cross-country skiing on trails near Fitzroy and a handful of private operators; provincial park roads and campgrounds are closed.

After the camper that I had rented six months ago from RVEZY cancelled 48 hours before our trip, Blair made some changes in to schedule and made available his camper. It was clean, comfortable and Blair was a joy to deal with. I highly recommend.

How to book Arnprior campgrounds
Fitzroy Provincial Park reservations run through the Ontario Parks reservation system online or by phone. The booking window opens five months in advance to the day at 7 a.m. Eastern, and popular summer weekends, especially waterfront and electrical sites, are typically claimed within minutes of the window opening.
Cancellations do trickle back into the system as arrival dates approach, so checking the reservation site regularly, particularly around midday and mid-week, often turns up freshly released sites.
Private campgrounds such as Riverbend Park, Bayview Lodge Resort, Cedar Cove Resort, and Serenity Hills Campground book directly with the operator. Weekly and seasonal stays are common at private resorts in the area, so nightly RV availability tightens quickly once seasonal renters commit for the summer.
What to expect at Arnprior campgrounds
Fitzroy Provincial Park has around 235 campsites split between the Pine Grove and Two Rivers campgrounds, with roughly 107 offering electrical service. Both campgrounds include comfort stations with flush toilets and showers, laundry, potable water taps, and a park store stocked with firewood, ice, and basic groceries. There are no full-hookup sites, and a dump station sits near the park office.
Sites are generally wide, level, and shaded by mature white pine, with many suitable for trailers and larger Class C rigs. Waterfront sites along the Carp and Ottawa Rivers exist but book first. Cell coverage in the Arnprior area is reliable on major carriers, and the town itself is close enough for a supply run.
Plan for bugs in early summer, cool nights even in August, and quiet hours enforced by park staff at provincial parks.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Arnprior, ON
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Arnprior, ON?
Renting an RV in Arnprior is more affordable than many travellers expect, with peer-to-peer pricing on RVezy typically ranging from about $125 to $250 CAD per night for travel trailers and campervans, and $200 to $400 CAD per night for larger Class A or Class C motorhomes. Because Arnprior sits just 65 km west of Ottawa on Highway 417, you can often find better value here than booking directly in the capital. For a cheap RV rental in Arnprior, target the shoulder seasons of late May or September, book mid-week stays, and filter listings by lower nightly rates. Pro tip: many Arnprior hosts include generous kilometre allowances on local trips, which can save you $50 or more per day compared to per-km pricing.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Arnprior%2C%20OntarioWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Arnprior?
Good news: a regular full Class G driver's licence is all you need to drive virtually every RV rental in Arnprior, including Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and most travel trailers under 4,600 kg. Ontario's Ministry of Transportation confirms that any motor home up to 11,000 kg can be driven on a full Class G. Visiting from outside Canada? Your home-country licence is recognized for short stays, and an International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended if your licence isn't in English or French. On RVezy, you'll also need to be at least 25 years old and complete a quick identity verification through the platform. That's it, no special RV course or commercial licence required for your Arnprior RV trip.
ontario.ca/page/driving-recreational-vehicle-rvIs RV rental insurance and protection included when I book in Arnprior?
Yes, every RV rental in Arnprior booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection package and 24/7 roadside assistance included automatically. The protection package gives you significant financial coverage for most damage to the vehicle during your trip, so you can hit Highway 417 with real peace of mind. During checkout, you choose from multiple protection levels (not the host), letting you decide how much coverage matches your comfort. This is one reason first-time renters love booking a motorhome rental in Arnprior through RVezy: you are not piecing together coverage from third parties. Pro tip: review your protection options before confirming, especially if you are heading to Algonquin or Bon Echo where you will be off-grid for days.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Arnprior RV rental?
Booking an RV rental in Arnprior is genuinely low-risk because RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy that applies to your trip. There is a grace-period window shortly after booking where you can cancel for a full refund, with additional flexibility tied to how far in advance of your trip you cancel. If a host has to cancel, RVezy helps you find another RV or provides a refund or travel credit. Cancellation terms are not buried in each listing because they are handled platform-wide. Pro tip: lock in your preferred Arnprior dates early, then relax knowing the grace period gives you room to adjust if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Arnprior?
Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rental options in Arnprior welcome dogs and cats, and the area is a dream for travelling with pets. Just filter for Pet-Friendly on RVezy before booking, and you'll see listings from hosts who allow furry passengers (some may charge a small pet fee, usually $25 to $75 per trip). Once you arrive, leashed dogs are welcome on the trails at Gillies Grove and House National Historic Site, on the sandy shores of Arnprior's Robert Simpson Park, and at nearby Fitzroy Provincial Park, where pets are permitted on most campsites and on a designated pet beach along the Ottawa River. Pro tip: pack a long lead, ticks are active here from May through October.
ontarioparks.ca/park/fitzroyCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or driveway in Arnprior?
Yes, RV delivery in Arnprior is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is perfect if you are a first-time renter or simply do not want to drive a motorhome through downtown Ottawa traffic. Many Arnprior hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to Fitzroy Provincial Park, a private campground on White Lake, or even your own driveway, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees typically depend on distance, with most local drop-offs within 50 km running $1 to $3 per km. Just filter listings by Delivery on RVezy. Pro tip: ask your host to deliver the day before your check-in so you maximize campground time.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Arnprior%2C%20OntarioHow far can I drive on a typical Arnprior RV trip?
You have plenty of road to explore from Arnprior, and most RVezy hosts include a daily kilometre allowance (often 150 to 200 km/day) with reasonable per-km rates beyond that. Some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for longer routes. From Arnprior you can reach downtown Ottawa in under an hour (about 65 km), Algonquin Provincial Park's west gate in roughly 2.5 hours, the Thousand Islands near Gananoque in about 2.5 hours, and Mont-Tremblant in Quebec in around 2 hours. Pro tip: message the host before booking if you are planning a big loop, they will often bundle extra kilometres into your nightly rate.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Arnprior%2C%20OntarioWhere are the best campgrounds near Arnprior to park my RV?
Arnprior is surrounded by some of the best campgrounds in the Ottawa Valley. Fitzroy Provincial Park, about 20 minutes east, offers spacious sites across the Pine Grove and Carson Trail campgrounds, with electrical hookups, sandy beaches on the Ottawa River, and a dump station. Cedar Haven Campground and other private parks on nearby White Lake provide full-hookup sites within a short drive west. Sand Point Beach, just west on Highway 17, puts you close to one of the warmest swimming beaches in the region. For more rustic RV camping near Arnprior, the McNab/Braeside area offers smaller riverside spots. Pro tip: Fitzroy books up months ahead for the Canada Day long weekend, reserve early through the Ontario Parks reservation system.
ontarioparks.ca/park/fitzroyWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Arnprior?
The sweet spot for an Arnprior RV trip is mid-May through early October, when daytime highs sit between 20 and 27 C and Ottawa Valley campgrounds are in full swing. July and August are peak swimming weather (with water temperatures in the Ottawa River around 22 C), while late September delivers brilliant maple and bur oak fall colours in Gillies Grove, often without the crowds. Spring (mid-May to late June) is fantastic for paddling and fewer bugs after the first week of June. Winters here are cold (often dipping below -20 C in January), so most hosts pause bookings between November and April. Pro tip: book a September trip if you want both warm days and the start of fall foliage.
arnprior.ca/en/recreation-and-culture/visiting-arnprior.aspxI've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one in Arnprior?
You're going to do great, and Arnprior is one of the easiest places in Ontario to learn the ropes. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the propane, water tanks, slide-outs, awning, and dash systems before you drive away. Roads around Arnprior are wide and well-maintained, with Highway 417 offering a calm, low-traffic route compared to Toronto or Montreal. If you're nervous about size, start with a campervan rental in Arnprior (Class B) or a smaller Class C, both drive much like a large van. Pro tip: do a short practice loop along Daniel Street and County Road 29 before heading to your campground, you'll feel confident within 20 minutes.
ontario.ca/page/driving-recreational-vehicle-rvWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking in Arnprior includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection package, so a flat tire on Highway 417, a dead battery at Fitzroy Provincial Park, or a lockout in downtown Ottawa is one phone call away from being solved. RVezy's customer support team is also reachable before, during, and after your trip, and your host is just a message away in the RVezy app for quick questions about appliances or systems. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave Arnprior, you will have everything at your fingertips if needed.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Arnprior RV rental across the border into Quebec or the United States?
Travelling into Quebec is easy and common on an Arnprior RV trip, the Chenaux interprovincial bridge is just 25 minutes north, putting you within striking distance of Gatineau Park, Mont-Tremblant, and even Montreal (about 2.5 hours). Cross-border travel into the United States may be allowed depending on the host and the protection package you select, so message the host directly through the listing before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance coverage limits. Popular RV road trip routes from Arnprior include the Ottawa-Tremblant loop through the Gatineau Hills and the Thousand Islands run down Highway 416 to Gananoque. Pro tip: bring your passport even for Quebec, you'll want it if you decide to extend south.
travel.gc.ca/travelling/documents/travel-documents/canadian-travellersHow much should I budget for fuel on an Arnprior RV trip?
Fuel is one of the biggest variables on a road trip, but it's manageable with a little planning. In Arnprior, gas typically runs around $1.55 to $1.75 CAD per litre, and diesel is similar. A Class B campervan averages 12 to 14 L/100km, a Class C motorhome about 18 to 22 L/100km, and a large Class A can hit 25 to 30 L/100km. For a typical 3-night family RV trip in Arnprior with a Class C, including a run to Fitzroy Provincial Park and a day in Ottawa, expect to spend roughly $120 to $180 on fuel. For shoulder-season stays in late May, June, or September, you can usually find a site 2 to 4 weeks out. Pro tip: if your top pick is full, check back around noon, Ontario Parks allows last-minute cancellations and freshly opened sites pop up daily.
ontarioparks.ca/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Arnprior?
Driving conditions around Arnprior are some of the friendliest in Ontario for RVers. Highway 417 (the Trans-Canada) runs right past town with wide shoulders and gentle grades, and Highway 17 west toward Renfrew is a smooth two-lane route with passing zones. Summer brings clear, dry roads, while spring can mean potholes after the freeze-thaw cycle and the occasional Ottawa River flood warning along low-lying County Road 29. Watch for white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk, especially between Arnprior and Fitzroy Harbour. Winters (November to March) bring snow and ice, which is why most RV rentals here are seasonal. Pro tip: skip rush hour on Highway 417 eastbound into Ottawa between 7 to 9 a.m. if you're heading to the capital.

Campgrounds near Arnprior offer a great range of amenities for every comfort level. Fitzroy Provincial Park has 107 electrical (15/30-amp) sites, comfort stations with hot showers, laundry, drinking-water taps, and a dump station near the park office, but no full hookups. Cedar Cove Resort on White Lake offers full three-way hookups (water, power, sewer) along with a pool, beach, and store. Sand Point Beach RV Park has electric and water hookups plus a popular sandy beach. Most parks have potable water fill stations at the entrance and dump stations included with your nightly fee. Pro tip: top up fresh water before you arrive at Fitzroy since taps are centralized, and dump your tanks on the way out using the loop near the park office.
ontarioparks.ca/park/fitzroy/campingWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Arnprior?

Most listings sleep 4 to 8 people across a queen bed, convertible dinette, and bunk or over-cab area, with seatbelted seating for travel days. Air conditioning, furnace heat, and a 12V/110V electrical system are standard, and many rigs include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, and an awning. Generators are common in Class A and C motorhomes for off-grid stays at Fitzroy or White Lake. Wi-Fi is usually BYO via your phone hotspot since Ottawa Valley cell coverage (Rogers, Bell, Telus) is solid. Pro tip: ask your host about a Starlink add-on if you're working remotely from camp.
arnprior.ca/en/recreation-and-culture/visiting-arnprior.aspxWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for my Arnprior rental?

Popular extras include bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits with pots and dishes ($25 to $50), camping chairs and outdoor mats, bike racks, BBQs, generators, and even kayak or paddleboard rentals (handy on the Ottawa River). Pickup is usually at the host's home in Arnprior, McNab/Braeside, or White Lake, with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough included. Most hosts offer 150 to 250 km/day, with optional unlimited-kilometre upgrades for longer trips. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a dump-and-clean package at the end, you'll roll out of your campsite without lifting a finger, which is a game-changer for a family RV trip in Arnprior.
arnprior.ca/en/recreation-and-culture/visiting-arnprior.aspxHow does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Arnprior?
Payment is straightforward and secure on RVezy. When you book your RV rental in Arnprior, you pay through the RVezy platform using a credit card, never cash or e-transfer directly to the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 CAD depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card separately from your booking payment and released after your trip if there is no damage and the RV is returned in the agreed condition. The protection package you chose at checkout backs you up for most accidental damage. Keeping everything in-app also means RVezy support can help if any questions come up. Pro tip: take a quick video walkaround of the RV at pickup and drop-off in Arnprior, it is the easiest way to ensure your deposit comes back smoothly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I dump tanks and fill fresh water near Arnprior?
Tank services are easy to find around Arnprior. Fitzroy Provincial Park has a dump station and potable fill near the main park office on Canon Smith Drive, open to registered campers free of charge from mid-May to mid-October. Cedar Cove Resort on White Lake offers full sewer hookups at sites plus a dump station for departing guests. Many Ottawa-area municipal dump stations (including in Carleton Place, 25 minutes south) accept RVers for a small fee, typically $10 to $15. Always rinse your sewer hose at the designated wash spot, never at the potable water tap. Pro tip: plan to dump on departure day rather than mid-trip, you'll save time and start your drive home with empty grey and black tanks for a lighter, smoother ride.
