Campgrounds and RV parks near Ayr, ON

Ayr is a village in the Township of North Dumfries within Waterloo Region, roughly a ten-minute drive from Cambridge and about twenty minutes south of Kitchener-Waterloo. The Nith River runs through town, and the surrounding countryside is a mix of farmland, mixed hardwood forest, and Grand River tributaries, which makes the area a practical base for RV travellers exploring southwestern Ontario. Campground options close to Ayr range from full-service private parks to riverside sites. Nith River Campground sits close to the village itself, while Country Gardens RV Park in Wilmot Township, Green Acre Park Campground, and Willow Lake Park are within an easy drive in the surrounding townships. Bingemans Campground, on the north edge of Kitchener, adds a larger resort-style option with a waterpark and entertainment complex on site. For RV renters, the location works well because Highway 401 is minutes away, giving quick access to Toronto to the east and London to the west without long transit days between stops.

The campgrounds near Ayr are privately operated, so reservations go through each park directly rather than a provincial system. Country Gardens RV Park, Green Acre Park Campground, Willow Lake Park, and Nith River Campground take bookings by phone or through their own websites, and Bingemans Campground uses an online reservation form on the Bingemans site. For summer weekends and Canadian long weekends, booking six to eight weeks ahead is a reasonable minimum. Seasonal sites at Green Acre Park Campground and Willow Lake Park are typically committed by early spring, so short-stay RV renters should ask specifically for transient or nightly sites. If a specific park is full, Ontario Parks reservations at nearby Pinehurst Lake and Rockwood open five months in advance on a rolling daily window through the Ontario Parks reservation service.
