Campgrounds and RV parks near Grey Highlands, ON

Grey Highlands is a rural municipality in the southeast corner of Grey County, formed in 2001 from the amalgamation of several smaller communities including Flesherton, Markdale, and Kimberley. It sits on the Niagara Escarpment about two hours northwest of Toronto, with the Beaver Valley cutting through its northern edge and the Saugeen River system draining its west side. The area draws RV travellers looking for a base close to Blue Mountain, Georgian Bay beaches, and the Bruce Trail without staying inside a busy resort village. Campground options nearby run from full-service resorts to provincial and conservation-authority parks. Sun Retreats Blue Mountains sits north of Grey Highlands near Thornbury with full-hookup sites and resort amenities. Craigleith Provincial Park runs along the Georgian Bay shoreline west of Collingwood, and Meaford Memorial Park lines the waterfront in Meaford. Inland options include Durham Conservation Area on the Saugeen River and Amazing Rocky Park Campground on the Rocky Saugeen. Roads through Grey Highlands are mostly rural two-lane, and grocery, fuel, and LCBO stops are available in Markdale, Flesherton, and Durham.

Each park in the area uses a different reservation system. Craigleith Provincial Park is booked through Ontario Parks online or by phone on a rolling five-month window that opens at 7 a.m. ET, and popular summer weekends can sell out within minutes. Meaford Memorial Park uses Camplife for online reservations, with waterfront sites numbered 1 through 18 released to the public on January 1 at 9 a.m. separately from the rest of the campground. Durham Conservation Area is booked through the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority's online system starting February 1. Amazing Rocky Park Campground and Sun Retreats Blue Mountains take bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. For any July or August weekend, book as early as the system allows and have a backup park in mind.
