Long weekends fill first, and Ontario Parks sites are commonly booked as soon as the five-month rolling window opens at 7:00 a.m. Eastern Time for the target date. Late May and early June are quieter but buggy; effective insect protection is essential. September brings cooler nights, fewer bugs, and shoulder-season availability, though services wind down quickly after the Labour Day weekend. Expect a remote, small-scale experience. Ojibway Provincial Park has fewer than 50 sites, roughly half with electrical service, plus a group site that can accommodate 15 to 50 people, comfort stations with showers and flush toilets, laundry, a trailer dump station, and a boat launch. Interior campground roads are gravel and can be hilly. Some sites sit close to the Little Vermilion Lake shore. Cell coverage is spotty away from Sioux Lookout, and on-site supplies at Ojibway are minimal. Filling fresh-water tanks and stocking firewood, groceries, and ice in Sioux Lookout before arriving is recommended. Private camps in the area are generally rustic, fishing-focused operations. Sites vary widely: some offer hookups and cabins, others provide only basic power and water.
