It makes an easy morning stop from any campground near the city. Sleeping Giant Provincial Park offers more than 100 kilometres of trails, including the demanding climb to the top of the Giant landform, plus paddling on Marie Louise Lake and Lake Superior. In the city itself, Fort William Historical Park recreates the fur-trade era and is a strong pick for families. Ouimet Canyon, an Ontario Parks day-use site northeast of the city, delivers dramatic cliff views from a short trail.
