Campgrounds near New Dundee
New Dundee is a small community in Wilmot Township, part of Ontario's Region of Waterloo, roughly a 20-minute drive south of Kitchener-Waterloo and about 90 minutes west of Toronto. The village sits on the Alder Creek watershed in a rural pocket of southwestern Ontario, which puts RV renters within easy reach of privately operated parks, Grand River Conservation Authority campgrounds, and Ontario Parks sites farther afield.
Most overnight options in the immediate area are private, seasonal RV parks. Country Gardens RV Park sits close to Wilmot Township attractions and shopping in Kitchener-Waterloo. Green Acre Park Campground and Willow Lake Campground and RV Park are family-oriented properties within a short drive of New Dundee, while Bingemans Campground sits inside a large recreation complex on the Grand River in Kitchener.
Nith River Campground puts renters along the Nith River in the countryside west of town, closer to St. Agatha and New Hamburg. Together these parks give renters a range of hookup levels, from basic sites to full-service pads suitable for larger Class A and fifth-wheel rigs.
Things to do near New Dundee
The area combines small-town Mennonite country with the amenities of Kitchener-Waterloo. Renters typically pair campground time with day trips to St. Jacobs Farmers' Market, the historic streets of downtown Kitchener, and Waterloo Park. Cycling and walking along the Grand River trail network is popular, and paddling on the Grand and Nith rivers is accessible from several launch points.
Families staying at Bingemans Campground have on-site access to a large waterpark, mini-golf, and go-karts. Country Gardens RV Park and Green Acre Park Campground both lean family-friendly with pools and organized recreation.
Day-trip range also covers African Lion Safari near Cambridge, the shops of Elora and Fergus, and the Elora Gorge Conservation Area for tubing. The Niagara wine region and the beaches at Port Dover and Grand Bend are all within a manageable drive.

The camping season in southwestern Ontario runs roughly from the Victoria Day long weekend in late May through the Thanksgiving weekend in mid-October. Most private RV parks around New Dundee open in early May and close by mid-October, and shoulder-season nights can drop below freezing. The average date for the last spring frost in the Kitchener-Waterloo area is May 6, and frost normally returns on October 2.
July and August are peak season. Warm, humid days and reliable warm nights make this the busiest window for families, and sites at popular parks fill weeks or months out. Long weekends, including Canada Day, the August Civic Holiday, and Labour Day, book earliest and often sell out at Grand River Conservation Authority and Ontario Parks properties.
Late May, June, and September are the sweet spots for RV renters who want cooler weather, fewer bugs, and easier reservations. Winter camping is limited: most private parks close, and roads and hookups are not maintained for cold-weather use.

Arthur’s RV was exactly as described! The process was flawless. Pick up was easy and the walkthrough was thorough for someone who used an RV once before almost a decade ago. The RV itself was clean, included everything you’ll need to go camping including extras. I’d definitely rent again from Arthur.

How to book campgrounds near New Dundee
Private campgrounds around New Dundee, including Country Gardens RV Park, Green Acre Park Campground, Bingemans Campground, Nith River Campground, and Willow Lake Campground and RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Many operate on a seasonal model with a limited number of nightly and weekly sites, so booking well before the Victoria Day weekend is recommended.
For provincial parks, Ontario Parks accepts reservations up to five months in advance of the arrival date, so January 15 opens June 15. Car campgrounds open the reservation window at 7 a.m. ET, five months in advance of the start date.
Grand River Conservation Authority campgrounds, which are the closest publicly operated options, run on a separate online reservation system at grcacamping.ca that typically opens in late February for the coming season.
What to expect near New Dundee
Roads into New Dundee itself are quiet rural two-lane routes with tight village corners; larger rigs will find easier access via Highway 401, Highway 7/8, and Notre Dame Drive. Nearby Kitchener and Waterloo have full-service grocery, propane, dump stations, and RV repair, so restocking is straightforward.
Most private parks in the area offer 30-amp service on the majority of sites, with 50-amp available on a smaller subset. Water and sewer hookups vary by site, so renters travelling in larger motorhomes should confirm site dimensions and hookup type at the time of booking.
Summer weekends are busy and family-heavy, with pools, playgrounds, and organized activities in full swing. Cell coverage is generally strong across the region, mosquitoes are active near river and pond sites in June and July, and quiet hours are enforced at most properties.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my New Dundee RV trip?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy for every rental, which includes a money-back grace period after you book so you have time to reconsider. Refund eligibility after that window depends on how far out from the trip you cancel. If your dates shift, message your host first, as many are happy to accommodate a reschedule. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credits so your plans are protected. For full details, the RVezy Help Centre lays out the cancellation framework before you confirm.

Absolutely, and a pet-friendly RV rental in New Dundee is easy to find. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings where dogs (and often cats) are welcome. Wilmot Township is dog paradise: take your pup to the off-leash area at Bechtel Park in nearby Waterloo, the trails at Baden Hills, or for a swim at Petersburg Reservoir. Most Grand River Conservation Authority campgrounds, including Laurel Creek and Shade's Mills, allow leashed dogs on sites and trails. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and ask about a fenced yard at pickup, which makes walkthrough day a breeze with a pup along.
grandriver.ca/en/outdoor-recreation/camping.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in the New Dundee area?
Yes, RV delivery in New Dundee is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers. Many local hosts will tow or drive the unit straight to Bingemans Camping Resort in Kitchener, a Grand River Conservation Authority park like Pinehurst Lake or Laurel Creek, or a private RV park near New Dundee, and set it up before you arrive. They will level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through awning, slides, and appliances. Delivery fees are set per kilometre by each host. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and you can show up with just groceries and bedding ready to enjoy your campervan rental New Dundee adventure.

Each host sets their own mileage policy, and you'll see it clearly on the listing before you book; many include 100 to 200 free kilometres per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer road trips. For a bigger adventure, Pinery Provincial Park on Lake Huron is about two hours west and routinely tops Ontario Parks' best-of lists. ontarioparks.ca/park/pineryWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in New Dundee?
Late May through early October is prime time for an RV rental in New Dundee, with July and August delivering the warmest weather (daytime highs of 25 to 28°C / 77 to 82°F) and the longest evenings around the campfire. September is a local secret: temperatures hover at a perfect 18 to 22°C, the bugs are gone, and the Grand River valley turns gold and red. Don't overlook late September and early October either, when Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest (the largest Bavarian festival outside Germany) brings the whole region to life. Spring (May) brings blossoming orchards in Wilmot Township and lower nightly rates, ideal for value-seekers.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/index_e.htmlI've never rented an RV before. Will I be ok?
You're going to be just fine, and New Dundee is a forgiving place to start. RVezy hosts give every guest a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, levelling, propane, water systems, the dump valves, and how to set up the awning. You can also message any host through the listing before booking with first time renting an RV questions; they love helping new campers. Start with a travel trailer or Class C from a New Dundee host, choose a nearby site like Country Gardens RV Park (10 minutes away) for night one to get comfortable, and lean on RVezy's 24/7 support if anything feels off. By night two, you'll feel like a pro.
ontario.ca/page/driving-and-roadsWhat if something goes wrong on the road during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, battery boosts, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns wherever you are in Ontario. If a slide-out will not retract at Pinehurst Lake or your fridge stops cooling on Highway 401, one phone call dispatches help. The RVezy customer support team is also reachable around the clock for any non-mechanical issue, from booking questions to host communication. Pro tip: snap a photo of the roadside assistance number during your pickup walkthrough and save your host's mobile number, as they are often the fastest source for quirks specific to their rig.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my New Dundee RV rental across the border into the United States?
Cross-border travel from New Dundee is allowed on many RVezy rentals, but you will want to confirm with your specific host before booking, since insurance coverage must extend to U.S. travel. Once approved, you are roughly 90 minutes to the Buffalo, NY crossing via the Peace Bridge and about two hours to the Detroit/Windsor tunnel, both excellent jumping-off points for an RV road trip from New Dundee to the Finger Lakes, Adirondacks, or Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Bring your passport, vehicle registration, and a letter of permission from the host, and you are set for an international adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat fuel mileage should I expect, and how much will gas cost?
Budget realistically and you will have no surprises. Class C motorhomes from New Dundee hosts typically deliver 14 to 18 L/100 km (about 13 to 17 MPG), Class B campervans run 11 to 14 L/100 km, and a half-ton truck towing a travel trailer averages 17 to 20 L/100 km. Gas prices in Wilmot Township and Kitchener-Waterloo have recently hovered around $1.45 to $1.65 CAD per litre, with diesel typically 10 to 15 cents higher. For a 500 km weekend loop to Tobermory and back, plan on roughly $150 to $225 CAD in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at Costco in Kitchener or in Baden before heading out; both are reliably cheaper than highway stations on the 401.
ontario.ca/page/gas-pricesHow far in advance should I book a campground near New Dundee?
Reserve early to lock in the best spots. Ontario Parks opens reservations exactly five months ahead through the Ontario Parks Reservation Service at reservations.ontarioparks.ca, and prime summer weekends at Pinery, Long Point, and MacGregor Point sell out within hours of opening. Grand River Conservation Authority parks (Pinehurst Lake, Laurel Creek, Shade's Mills, Conestogo Lake) book through grandriver.ca and typically open in January for the summer season. Private parks like Country Gardens RV Park and Bingemans usually accept reservations 6 to 12 months out. Pro tip: midweek sites are far easier to grab, and Sunday-to-Thursday stays often unlock weekly discounts on your motorhome rental New Dundee booking.
reservations.ontarioparks.ca/What are the driving conditions like around New Dundee?
Driving an RV around New Dundee is genuinely relaxed compared to bigger Ontario destinations. The village sits on quiet Waterloo Regional Road 12, with easy access to Highway 401 (15 minutes via Homer Watson Boulevard) and Highway 7/8 west to Stratford. Roads are mostly flat, well-maintained, and wide. A few local heads-ups: you'll share rural roads in Wilmot Township and St. Jacobs with Old Order Mennonite horse-drawn buggies, so pass slowly and give them lots of room. Winter (December to March) brings snow and the occasional ice storm; if you're renting off-season, stick to plowed highways. Avoid Toronto rush hour on the 401 by leaving New Dundee before 2 p.m. on Fridays.
ontario.ca/page/road-safetyWhat hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near New Dundee?
Expect well-equipped sites. Most campgrounds within an hour of New Dundee offer 15-, 30-, and sometimes 50-amp electrical hookups, potable water fills, and on-site dump stations. Bingemans, Country Gardens RV Park, and Green Acre Park all provide full hookups (water, sewer, electric) on many sites, plus Wi-Fi, laundry, and showers. Grand River Conservation Authority parks like Pinehurst Lake and Shade's Mills offer electric-only sites with shared water taps and central dump stations. Ontario Parks (Pinery, MacGregor Point) typically provide 30-amp electric sites with comfort stations nearby. Pro tip: the public dump station at the Region of Waterloo Waste Management site on Erb Street accepts RV waste for a small fee if you need a quick stop before drop-off.
grandriver.ca/en/outdoor-recreation/camping.aspxWhat will the RV itself come with?
Pretty much everything you need for a great trip. RVs listed in New Dundee typically include a full kitchen (fridge, propane stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, comfortable beds (sleeping anywhere from 2 to 10 depending on the rig), a furnace and air conditioner, a dinette, and DOT-approved seatbelts for travel passengers. Many hosts add on-board generators, solar, outdoor speakers, TVs, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Listings clearly show the sleep count and features, so filter by Sleeps if you're planning a family RV trip New Dundee. Pro tip: ask the host about the kitchen kit (plates, pots, utensils); most New Dundee hosts include it free, saving you a grocery-store trip before pickup.
tc.gc.ca/en/services/road/safety.htmlWhat add-ons can I get with my RV, and how does pickup work?
You can really customize your motorhome rental New Dundee experience. Popular add-ons include kitchen and linen packages, BBQs and propane, outdoor mats, generators, bike racks, kayaks and paddleboards, portable Wi-Fi, and even pre-stocked groceries. Each host lists their own add-on menu and pricing on the listing page. Pickup usually happens at the host's home in or near New Dundee, with a 30 to 60 minute orientation walking you through every system. Drop-off is the reverse: return on time, with the RV tidy, the propane and fuel topped per the listing, and waste tanks dumped (or pay the dump fee, often $40 to $75). Pro tip: book a delivery if you'd rather skip the tow-vehicle question entirely.
ontario.ca/page/driving-and-roadsHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card when you book, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 CAD depending on the rig and protection plan you select) and released after drop-off once the host confirms the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid deductions, follow the host's checklist: dump tanks, refill fuel and propane, sweep the floors, and snap photos at pickup and drop-off as your own record. The RVezy support team will mediate any disputes. Pro tip: do the walk-around with your host present and ask them to note any existing scratches or dings before you drive off your New Dundee RV rental.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in New Dundee in winter, and how do I prepare for cold weather?
Yes, a winter RV rental in New Dundee is absolutely an option, and it is a beautiful way to experience snowy Wilmot Township and the Grand River valley. Look for listings that mention four-season use, heated and enclosed holding tanks, a working furnace, and skirting capability. Plan to stay at campgrounds with shore-power hookups that remain open year-round, and use a heated drinking-water hose or fill the fresh tank and run off the pump. January in the Waterloo area averages roughly -3°C highs and -11°C lows, occasionally dipping to -20°C, so dress in layers and pack a backup propane tank. Pro tip: combine a winter rental with a day trip to Chicopee Ski Hill in Kitchener for the full Canadian adventure.
