Campgrounds and RV parks near Norfolk County, ON

Lake Erie beaches are the main draw. The shallow, warm water at Turkey Point and the long sand beach at Long Point are well suited to families with younger kids. Long Point is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of North America's premier birding sites, with hundreds of songbird and waterfowl species moving through during spring and fall migration. Turkey Point Provincial Park is the only Ontario provincial park with a golf course, and also has hiking trails leading toward the Normandale Fish Hatchery. Sand Hill Park is known for a large dune that visitors climb to reach the beach. Off the water, Norfolk County's back roads pass wineries, breweries, cideries, and farm stands, and the HMCS Ojibwa submarine museum sits a short drive west in Port Burwell.

Most campgrounds in the area operate on a May-to-October season. Long Point Provincial Park's camping season typically runs from early May into mid-November, with day-use access available longer. Turkey Point Provincial Park usually opens in early May and closes in late October. Sand Hill Park operates from May 1 through Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Long Point Region Conservation Authority campgrounds run from May 1 to October 15. July and the first two weeks of August are the busiest stretch, when waterfront sites at Turkey Point and Long Point can fill months in advance. June and September are quieter and still warm enough for swimming, with fewer bugs and easier reservations. Spring and late fall bring excellent birdwatching at Long Point, where songbirds, waterfowl, and raptors pass through in large numbers. High Lake Erie water levels have caused flooding closures at Long Point campgrounds in past springs, so checking park advisories before arrival is worthwhile.

Turkey Point Provincial Park has roughly 200 campsites spread across three campgrounds (Walking Stick Woods, Whippoorwill, and Fin and Feather), with electrical sites available, flush toilets, showers, and a dump station. Sites are nicely treed with reasonable privacy, but there are no water hookups at individual sites and cell service inside the park can be spotty. Long Point Provincial Park is laid out across several loops, with sites near the beach being the most sought after. Park roads at both provincial parks can be tight for longer trailers, so checking site dimensions before booking matters. Private resorts such as Sun Retreats Turkey Point and Sand Hill Park typically offer full hookups, longer pull-throughs, and amenities like pools or laundry. Ticks are present in Norfolk County's grassy and wooded areas, so daily checks are recommended.
