Driving around Sault Ste. Marie is smooth sailing, wide roads, mostly light traffic, and minimal congestion. Watch for moose and deer, especially at dawn and dusk on Highway 17 north. In spring and fall, weather can change fast with fog or rain along the lake. In winter, snow and ice make for a real northern adventure, make sure your RV has winter tires if renting November–April and check road conditions before departing. City driving is easy for big RVs, so relax and enjoy the journey!
