Campgrounds and RV parks near Valley Grande, AL

Valley Grande sits in Dallas County, Alabama, just north of Selma in the Black Belt region. The area suits RV travelers looking for quiet, wooded state-park camping combined with easy access to Civil Rights history, river fishing, and small commercial parks with full hookups. Most nearby campgrounds stay open year-round, and sites tend to be shaded, level, and spaced out rather than packed together. Closest to town, My RV Park Selma and Kountry Air RV Park offer straightforward RV sites with hookups for travelers passing through on U.S. 80 or making Selma a base. Paul M Grist State Park, roughly 15 miles north of Selma, provides 11 RV sites with sewer, water, and 50-amp service on a 100-acre lake. Farther afield, Roland Cooper State Park sits on the eastern shore of Dannelly Reservoir, a 22,000-acre impoundment of the Alabama River near Camden, and Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park offers shaded creek-side sites between Centreville and Montevallo.

Alabama State Parks use a central online reservation system at reserve.alapark.com, which covers Roland Cooper. The park offers furnished cabins along with 41 improved RV campsites with picnic tables, grills, water, sewer, 50-amp, and 30-amp electrical hook-ups, plus 14 primitive tent sites. Advanced reservations may be made up to one year in advance, and the maximum stay for camping is 14 nights, with 31 nights allowed November 1 to March 31 at select parks. Paul M Grist State Park was closed by the state in October 2015 and reopened two months later after the Dallas County Commission leased the park from the state, so campground bookings are handled locally through the park office rather than the state portal. Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park handles its own reservations directly. Private parks near Selma, including My RV Park Selma and Kountry Air RV Park, take reservations by phone or through their own websites. For spring and fall weekends, booking several weeks ahead is advisable.
