Campgrounds and RV parks near Kalifornsky, AK

Kalifornsky sits on the western Kenai Peninsula in Southcentral Alaska, just south of the city of Kenai and a short drive from Soldotna. The area is bordered by Cook Inlet to the west and the lower Kenai River corridor to the north, placing RV travelers within reach of salmon fishing, beach access, and the road-accessible portion of Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, often called Alaska in miniature for its mix of Sitka spruce-dominated coastal rainforest and the western-most reach of boreal forest in North America. Private RV parks cluster along Kalifornsky Beach Road and the Kenai Spur Highway. Diamond M Ranch Resort, Klondike RV Park and Cottages, King Salmon Motel and RV Park, Port of Kenai, and Swiftwater City Campground offer full-hookup and partial-hookup sites suitable for rented Class A, Class C, and travel-trailer setups. Most are within a short drive of grocery stores, fuel, dump stations, and the Kenai and Kasilof river fishing access points. Public options on the peninsula include state recreation sites and refuge campgrounds. The refuge visitor center in Soldotna is the planning hub for road-system camping, cabin reservations, and current bear and fire conditions.

Private parks such as Diamond M Ranch Resort, Klondike RV Park and Cottages, King Salmon Motel and RV Park, Port of Kenai, and Swiftwater City Campground take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. For July sockeye weeks, book several months ahead; full-hookup pull-throughs sell out first. Public sites use different systems. Sites on Skyview Loop at Hidden Lake Campground can be reserved through Recreation.gov. There is a registration fee to book through Recreation.gov. Most other refuge campsites are first-come, first-served, and camping may not exceed 7 days in Hidden Lake Campground or 14 days elsewhere on the refuge. Alaska State Parks sites at Johnson Lake and Crooked Creek can be booked through the state reservation portal, with a portion held for walk-ins. Have a backup plan for peak weekends and confirm rig-length limits before arrival.
