Campgrounds near Bono, Arkansas
Bono sits in Craighead County in northeast Arkansas, just west of Jonesboro and along the western edge of Crowley's Ridge, a wooded upland that rises above the surrounding Mississippi River Delta. RV travelers using Bono as a base have quick access to two Arkansas State Park campgrounds within roughly a half-hour drive, plus additional state park and private RV park options farther north near Paragould and Pocahontas.
Lake Frierson State Park sits on 335-acre Lake Frierson about 10 miles north of Jonesboro, with a small campground offering five Class B sites with water and electric hookups and two tent sites. Crowley's Ridge State Park, atop the forested hills of the ridge itself, offers 26 campsites (18 Class B and eight tent sites), cabins, a 31-acre fishing lake, and a 3.5-acre swimming area.
For larger rigs and full hookups, Davidsonville Historic State Park near Pocahontas has campsites with full hookups plus additional water and 50-amp electric sites. Private options in the Jonesboro area include Lucky Camper RV Park and The Ranch RV Park.
Things to do near Bono
Fishing anchors most trips in this region. Lake Frierson supports year-round fishing for bream, catfish, crappie, saugeye, and bass, and Walcott Lake at Crowley's Ridge State Park is stocked for largemouth bass, catfish, and other species. Boat, kayak, and pedal boat rentals are available at both state parks.
Hiking and swimming round out active days. The 3.5-acre swimming area at Crowley's Ridge is one of the more popular swim spots in the region, and the park's trail network winds through forested ridge terrain built out in part by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
History travelers can add Davidsonville Historic State Park, which preserves the site of Arkansas's first post office and courthouse and includes a visitor center with archaeological exhibits and a replica 1820s flatboat.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV camping near Bono. April and October bring mild daytime temperatures, lower humidity, and comfortable overnight lows, and dogwoods bloom throughout Crowley's Ridge and Lake Frierson in April. Spring is also the wettest stretch of the year, with May typically the wettest month, so trip planners should expect thunderstorms and monitor severe weather forecasts.
Summer is peak season for families using the swimming beach and lakes, but heat and humidity are intense, with July highs averaging near 90°F. Sites at the state parks fill fastest on summer weekends and holidays.
Winter is quiet and workable for hardy RV travelers. The Lake Frierson visitor center runs a peak season March through November with daily hours, then shifts to reduced off-peak hours December through February. Davidsonville keeps its restrooms and showers open year-round, with boat rentals and exhibits available when other Arkansas state parks reduce services.
How to book campgrounds near Bono
Arkansas State Parks use a single central reservation system. Sites at Lake Frierson State Park, Crowley's Ridge State Park, and Davidsonville Historic State Park can all be booked through the Arkansas State Parks reservation portal at arkansasstateparks.com, or by calling the parks directly. The Arkansas system opens reservations up to 13 months in advance for campsites.
Discounts are available for some travelers, including reduced rates for Arkansas residents age 62 and over on weeknights. Confirm current policies at the time of booking.
Private parks such as Lucky Camper RV Park and The Ranch RV Park are booked directly with the operator. Book summer weekends and holidays well ahead, since the state park inventory around Bono is small.
What to expect at Bono-area campgrounds
State park campgrounds around Bono are small, wooded, and quiet. Crowley's Ridge State Park Campground sits on a geological formation that rises above the surrounding Delta, with primitive tent areas and a developed loop offering water and 30-amp electric hookups on paved pads. Sites vary considerably in size and terrain, and some spots are short, narrow, or off level, so larger rigs should check dimensions before booking.
Lake Frierson amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, trash collection, and a dump station, with hookups limited to water and electric. Davidsonville is the best fit for big rigs seeking full hookups, with paved sites, a playground, and Black River access. Cell service is generally usable at Davidsonville but can be spotty on the ridge. Pets are welcome on leash at all three state parks.
