Campgrounds near Dierks, Arkansas
Dierks sits in southwestern Arkansas at the southern edge of the Ouachita Mountains, within easy reach of Dierks Lake, Lake Greeson, and the Little Missouri River. The town works well as a base for RV travelers targeting lake fishing, forested hiking, and the state's most unusual attraction: public diamond hunting at Crater Of Diamonds State Park.
Public campgrounds anchor the area. Daisy State Park sits on Lake Greeson and offers a mix of Class A, Class B, and tent sites, plus three yurts, boat launch ramps, a playground, and a screened pavilion. Crater Of Diamonds State Park, roughly an hour east near Murfreesboro, adds Class AAA full-hookup sites next to the 37-acre diamond search field. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also operates Jefferson Ridge on Dierks Lake, with 85 sites offering full electric and water hookups, bookable through Recreation.gov.
Private options fill in the gaps. Castle Keepers RV Resort and Murfeesboro RV Park serve travelers who want longer stays or closer access to the diamond mine, while Brookside RV Retreat sits farther north near the Ouachita National Forest and Wolf Pen Gap ATV trails.
Things to do near Dierks
Water is the main draw. Dierks Lake covers 1,360 acres and is known for bass and crappie fishing, along with boating, kayaking, and swimming at developed beaches. Lake Greeson, adjacent to Daisy State Park, adds stripers, walleye, and northern pike, plus a rainbow trout fishery on the Little Missouri River stocked for winter and spring fishing.
Crater Of Diamonds State Park is the signature day trip. Visitors search a 37-acre plowed field for real diamonds and keep anything they find. The park also runs the seasonal Diamond Springs Water Park, short hiking trails, a visitor center, and equipment rentals.
Hiking, birding, and hunting are strong across the Ouachita National Forest and nearby Corps of Engineers lands, and public hunting is available on nearly 600 acres in the upper reaches of Dierks Lake.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel around Dierks. Daytime highs are mild, humidity is manageable, and the surrounding forests carry color from mid-October into November. Spring is also the wettest stretch, with May typically the peak rainfall month, so expect thunderstorm interruptions and check road conditions before heading to Corps of Engineers day-use areas.
Summer runs hot and humid. July and August highs routinely sit in the low 90s Fahrenheit, and the diamond search field at Crater Of Diamonds has almost no shade, so early-morning digging is smart. This is peak season for lake use and family programming, and reservations fill quickly at Daisy State Park, Crater Of Diamonds State Park, and Jefferson Ridge.
Winter is quieter. Daisy, Crater Of Diamonds, and Jefferson Ridge all stay open year-round, though the Daisy visitor center runs limited weekend hours from December through February. Trout fishing on the Little Missouri River picks up in this window.
How to book near Dierks
Arkansas State Parks use a single reservation system at reserve.arkansasstateparks.com. Sites at Daisy State Park and Crater Of Diamonds State Park can be booked online in advance, with a non-refundable deposit equal to the first night's rate plus tax charged at booking. Check-in and check-out are both 3:00 p.m., and stays are capped at 14 nights within any 30-day period.
Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Dierks Lake, including Jefferson Ridge, are reserved through Recreation.gov. Peak weekends and holidays can sell out well in advance, so book early.
Private parks such as Castle Keepers RV Resort, Murfeesboro RV Park, and Brookside RV Retreat handle reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and are often the fallback when state and federal sites are full.
What to expect at Dierks campgrounds
The area is rural. Cell service is inconsistent around Dierks Lake and Crater Of Diamonds, with several campers reporting weak Verizon signal, so download maps and reservation confirmations before arrival. Grocery runs are easiest in Nashville or De Queen, and fuel stops near the lakes are limited.
Roads in are paved but hilly and winding, with wildlife common along shoulders at dawn and dusk. Big rigs can generally make it into Crater Of Diamonds, which accommodates RVs up to 60 feet, though some Corps sites and forest roads have tighter turns.
Expect wooded, shaded sites at most parks, standard picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern posts, plus bathhouses with hot showers at the developed campgrounds. Bring insect repellent from spring through early fall, and a water pressure regulator for older hookups.

On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers from around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes between $175 and $275 per night, and larger Class A coaches starting near $250. Filter by Delivery on RVezy and message the host to confirm distance fees. Pro tip: schedule delivery to coincide with your campground check-in so the host can walk you through hookups, slide-outs, and the awning before they leave.

If you'd rather skip the drive entirely, book a host who offers delivery and setup right at your Dierks Lake campsite. Pro tip: practice a few backing maneuvers in a wide gravel lot before committing to your site, and you'll feel like a pro by day two.
