Campgrounds near Hope, Arkansas
Hope sits in southwest Arkansas at the intersection of I-30 and US-278, roughly halfway between Little Rock and Texarkana. The town works well as a base for RV travelers because two very different outdoor draws are within a short drive: the diamond search fields around Murfreesboro to the north, and the timber-lined bass waters of Millwood Lake to the south.
Most overnight options within an hour of Hope are state park campgrounds and small independent RV parks. Crater Of Diamonds State Park and Millwood State Park are the two anchor public campgrounds, both operated by Arkansas State Parks with full and partial hookup RV sites, bathhouses, and dump stations. Private options such as Miners Camping and Rock Shop, Murfeesboro RV Park, and Millwood Landing Golf and RV Resort fill in around them.
Roads into both state parks are paved and generally big-rig friendly, but the final approaches follow rural two-lane highways through small towns with reduced speed limits, so route planning matters for longer motorhomes and travel trailers.
Things to do near Hope
The signature activity in the area is diamond hunting. Crater Of Diamonds State Park is the only public site in the world where visitors can search a plowed volcanic field and keep any diamonds, other gems, and minerals they find, including amethyst, jasper, agate, and quartz. Tool rentals, a Diamond Discovery Center, and the seasonal Diamond Springs Water Park round out the on-site attractions.
Around Millwood Lake, the focus shifts to water. The 29,260-acre lake is a well-known largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie fishery, with boat lanes threading through submerged timber, marshes, and oxbow cutoffs. The lake is an Audubon-designated Important Bird Area, and walking and bike trails at Millwood State Park give birders access to habitat used by more than 300 recorded species.

Spring, from March through May, is a popular window for RV travel in southwest Arkansas. Temperatures are mild, crappie fishing on Millwood Lake is at its peak, and diamond searching is easier after spring rains wash the plowed field at Crater Of Diamonds. Spring is also the wettest stretch of the year, with April and May normals topping five inches per month, so campers should plan for muddy conditions and thunderstorms.
Summer brings hot, humid weather with daily highs regularly in the low 90s. Families still fill campgrounds because the Diamond Springs Water Park at Crater Of Diamonds operates seasonally, and catfish and bream fishing are strong on Millwood Lake. Book well in advance for holiday weekends.
Fall offers cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and a second peak in crappie fishing. Winter is the quietest season. Campgrounds at both state parks stay open year-round, but the Millwood marina closes from November through February and many private facilities scale back services.
How to book campgrounds near Hope
Both Crater Of Diamonds State Park and Millwood State Park take reservations through the Arkansas State Parks system at arkansasstateparks.com or by phone up to 12 months in advance. A non-refundable deposit equal to the first night is charged at booking. Stays are limited to 14 nights within any 30-day period, check-in is at 4:00 p.m., and check-out is at 11:00 a.m. Weekend stays require a two-night minimum, and holiday weekends require three nights.
Private parks such as Miners Camping and Rock Shop, Murfeesboro RV Park, and Millwood Landing Golf and RV Resort book directly through the property. Inventory at the smaller sites is limited, so weekends between April and October tend to sell out weeks ahead.
What to expect on-site
Crater Of Diamonds State Park offers 47 Class AAA sites with water, sewer, and 30/50-amp electric, plus five walk-in tent sites. Sites are set among pines with level pads, and most accommodate rigs to about 45 feet, with some longer sites available. Amenities include two bathhouses with hot showers, a dump station, seasonal coin laundry, and public Wi-Fi in the campground area.
Millwood State Park has 45 sites: 27 Class AAA full-hookup sites with 50-amp service, 2 Class A and 13 Class B water and electric sites, and three primitive tent spots. The full-hookup loop is more open with lake views, while the water and electric loop is shaded. There is only one pull-through site, and access is via a one-way loop road that can be tight for larger rigs. Cell coverage is usable but varies by carrier.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hope%2C%20ArkansasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Hope, Arkansas?
Good news: for nearly every RV on RVezy, your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Hope. Arkansas only requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for non-commercial vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and the vast majority of rentals (Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and most travel trailers) fall well under that threshold. International visitors should grab an International Driving Permit before their trip. Most first-time renters are surprised how quick and painless the process is.

During checkout, you choose the level of protection that best fits your trip (this is set by RVezy, not the host), and you can review the options before confirming. Combined with around-the-clock roadside help, that means a flat tire on Interstate 30 or a dead battery at Millwood State Park is just a phone call away from being handled.

Booking your Hope RV trip is lower risk because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy that applies to your booking. If life throws you a curveball, whether it's a work conflict or a severe Arkansas thunderstorm rolling through southwest Arkansas, refunds are based on how far out you are from your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy helps with a refund or rebooking credit. The full cancellation policy details are on the RVezy Help Center, so you'll know exactly where you stand before you click Book. It's one less worry between you and a great southwest Arkansas adventure.

Many hosts allow pets for a small cleaning fee, so message them before booking to confirm. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl and bring proof of vaccinations for campground check-in. Your dog will love the pine-scented trails as much as you will.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/millwood-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Hope?
Yes, RV delivery in Hope is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. Many RVezy hosts will drive the RV directly to Hope-area campgrounds like Hope Village Inn & RV Park or Millwood State Park, or even to your driveway, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means no towing, no backing into a tight site, and no figuring out the awning on your own. Delivery fees vary by distance, so message the host with your destination for an exact quote. It's about as close to a turnkey camping vacation as you'll find.

Some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, so filter or message hosts directly if you're planning a longer loop through the Ouachita Mountains.

arkansasstateparks.com/parks/millwood-state-parkWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Hope, AR?

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Hope, AR RV rental into Texas, Louisiana, or Oklahoma?
Yes, an RV road trip from Hope into neighboring states is one of the most popular ways to use these rentals. Hope sits less than 30 minutes from the Texas border at Texarkana, about an hour from Louisiana via US 71, and roughly two hours from Oklahoma. Cross-state travel within the contiguous United States is generally allowed and your RVezy protection follows you. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Always confirm your specific route with your host through the listing message thread. Popular drives include Hope to Caddo Lake (Texas) and Hope to Hot Springs National Park.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Hope RV trip?
Fuel in Hope is among the cheapest in the country, which is great news for your budget. Arkansas gas prices typically run 20 to 40 cents below the national average, and Hope has multiple stations right off Interstate 30 exits 30 and 31. Expect a Class C motorhome to get 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), a Class B campervan around 16 to 20 MPG, and a truck plus travel trailer setup roughly 10 to 12 MPG. For a typical 300-mile loop through Hot Springs and back, plan on $80 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Hope before heading into the Ouachita Mountains where stations get sparse.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Hope?
For Arkansas State Parks like Millwood and Crater of Diamonds, book as early as you can through the official Arkansas State Parks reservation system. Waterfront sites at Millwood disappear fast for spring and fall weekends. Private parks like Hope Village Inn & RV Park usually have availability with two to four weeks' notice, even on weekends. For the Hope Watermelon Festival in mid-August, reserve at least two to three months out, the whole town fills up. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have openings, even last-minute.
arkansasstateparks.com/reservationsWhat are local driving conditions like around Hope, AR?
Driving an RV around Hope is refreshingly easy compared to most destinations. Interstate 30 cuts right through town with wide lanes and gentle grades, US 67 and US 278 are flat and rural, and downtown Hope has low traffic and few low-clearance bridges. Watch for occasional severe thunderstorms from April through June, including the possibility of high winds, and slow down on rural two-lane roads where deer crossings are common at dawn and dusk. If you're heading north into the Ouachita Mountains toward Hot Springs, expect winding roads and steeper grades. Pro tip: most Hope-area rentals handle these roads comfortably, and your host's orientation will cover any quirks.
idrivearkansas.com/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Hope?

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hope%2C%20ArkansasHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment on RVezy is simple and secure. You pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. At booking you'll pay the rental total plus your chosen protection plan and any add-ons. The security deposit is handled separately from the booking payment and is pre-authorized before your trip starts, then released after drop-off assuming there's no damage and the RV is returned as agreed. To avoid issues: take time-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, empty the tanks, and refuel to the level shown at pickup. It's the same easy process whether you're renting a campervan or a Class A.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's the local insider tip for a Hope, AR RV trip?
Here's the local secret: time your Hope RV trip to combine the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site downtown with a side trip to Crater of Diamonds State Park, the only public diamond mine in the world where you can keep what you find. From your RV at Hope Village Inn, it's about a 45-minute drive north toward Murfreesboro. Pair that with a stop at the Hope Visitor Center, housed in the restored 1912 Union Pacific train depot downtown, and you've got presidential history, gem hunting, and small-town charm in one family RV trip from Hope that nobody else in your group has done.
