Campgrounds and RV parks near McCrory, AR

The White and Black Rivers dominate outdoor recreation in this part of Arkansas. Activities in the area include boating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, biking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. At Jacksonport State Park, visitors can tour the restored 1872 courthouse museum and visitor center, which share the story of the historic river port at the confluence of the White and Black Rivers. The park features a swimming beach on the White River, a pavilion, picnic sites, a playground, a boat ramp, and the half-mile Tunstall Riverwalk Trail that runs from the paddleboat area to the campground. For day trips, families often head to Village Creek State Park on Crowley's Ridge or the historic downtown of Newport for restaurants and supplies.

Spring and fall are the strongest seasons for RV travel in the McCrory area. From March through May, daytime highs climb from the 60s into the upper 70s and campgrounds move into their full amenity schedule. Spring also brings the region's heaviest rains and the occasional severe thunderstorm, so travelers should monitor forecasts closely. Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon highs regularly near 90°F and high dewpoints across the Delta. River swimming and shaded sites become priorities, and insect activity peaks from mid to late summer. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and fewer bugs, and it is typically the most comfortable stretch for RV camping. Jacksonport State Park is open year-round for camping, with reservations available through Arkansas State Parks; the courthouse museum runs an extended peak-season schedule from March through November and shorter hours in December through February. Winter camping is possible, but expect reduced facilities, with park restrooms open March through November, and occasional cold snaps.

The McCrory area is rural and quiet. Expect small-town services: a few grocery stores, fuel stations along U.S. 64, and limited late-night dining. Cell coverage is generally reliable in town and along main highways but can drop in bottomland areas near the rivers and refuges. Jacksonport State Park has 20 Class A campsites with water and 50 amp electric hookups along the White River, is open year-round, and includes drinking water, flush toilets open March through November, trash collection, a dump station, picnic area, playground, swim beach, river walk, boat ramp, and visitor center and museum; cell service is good in the area. Private parks in and around McCrory tend to be smaller, level, and functional rather than resort-style. Bring bug spray from late spring through early fall.
