Campgrounds near Monette, Arkansas
Monette sits in Craighead County in the Arkansas Delta, with Crowley's Ridge forming a wooded spine of hills just to the west. RV travelers use the town as a base for state parks on and around the ridge, plus small private RV parks close to U.S. 49 and the Jonesboro corridor. Lucky Camper RV Park and Willow RV Park are the nearest private options, while three Arkansas state parks lie within roughly an hour of town.
Crowley's Ridge State Park near Paragould is the largest state-park option in the area, with a mix of Class B RV sites and tent sites on a forested ridge above the surrounding Delta. Lake Frierson State Park sits 10 miles north of Jonesboro on Hwy. 141, is smaller and quieter, and is focused on lake fishing.
Lake Poinsett State Park sits east of Harrisburg, 1 mile east on Hwy. 14 then 2 miles south on Hwy. 163, on a 640-acre reservoir southwest of Monette. Together these parks give travelers a range of lake, forest, and roadside options within an easy drive.
Things to do near Monette
Fishing drives most trips in this part of Arkansas. Lake Frierson is a 335-acre lake with year-round fishing for bream, catfish, crappie, and bass, and fishing boats and kayaks are available for rent at the visitor center. Lake Poinsett is a 640-acre lake set below the rolling hills of Crowley's Ridge in northeast Arkansas, with a boat ramp and on-site bait shop.
Crowley's Ridge State Park adds hiking on wooded trails, a spring-fed swimming lake, and a separate fishing lake. Year-round interpretive programs educate guests on wildlife and the history of the area, with trail hikes and kayak tours available at Lake Poinsett. Families use the playgrounds, open ballfields, and picnic pavilions between activities.

Peak camping season at the Arkansas state parks near Monette runs March through November, when visitor centers keep full daily hours and rentals are active. Spring is the wettest stretch, with May the wettest month in Jonesboro, so travelers should watch for thunderstorms and soft ground at lakeside sites.
Summer is hot and humid, with daytime highs regularly near 90 degrees. Lakes stay open for swimming, boating, and fishing, and the spring-fed swimming lake at Crowley's Ridge is one of the busier draws in northeast Arkansas. Biting insects and afternoon storms are the main annoyances.
Fall brings the most comfortable weather and strong foliage on Crowley's Ridge, and it is a popular window for weekend trips. Winter is quiet: the parks stay open, but restrooms at Lake Frierson are open March through November, and the visitor center runs daily 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during peak season and reduced hours in December through February.
How to book campgrounds near Monette
The three state parks near Monette are all reserved through the Arkansas State Parks system at reserve.arkansasstateparks.com, or by phone with the individual park office. Reservations are recommended for weekends in spring and fall and for any holiday period, especially at Crowley's Ridge, which has only about 26 sites.
Arkansas State Parks charges a non-refundable reservation deposit equal to the first night's non-discounted rate plus tax, cancellations result in loss of that deposit, and campsites are limited to fourteen rental nights within a thirty-day period. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 3:00 p.m.
Private options like Lucky Camper RV Park and Willow RV Park are booked directly with the operator and generally have more flexibility for last-minute stops.
What to expect at Monette-area campgrounds
Sites at the state parks skew small and wooded. Crowley's Ridge State Park has paved RV pads with water and electric hookups, but reviewers emphasize checking site dimensions carefully as some spots work only for smaller units, so confirm length before booking. Lake Poinsett accommodates RVs up to 45 feet with water and electric hookups, though no sewer connections are available at individual sites, and a dump station is located near the visitor center.
Lake Frierson has seven campsites, five Class B and two Class D, with no showers or dump station available. Cell service can be spotty on the ridge, mosquitoes are active near the lakes in warm months, and drivers should plan fuel and grocery stops in Jonesboro or Paragould rather than at the parks.
