Campgrounds and RV parks near Parkin, AR

Parkin sits in Cross County in the Arkansas Delta, along the St. Francis River between Memphis and Jonesboro. The town anchors Parkin Archeological State Park, a National Historic Landmark that preserves a 17-acre Mississippian-period village occupied from roughly AD 1000 to 1550. The state park itself is a day-use site with a museum, interpretive trail, and boat ramp, so RV travelers base themselves at nearby campgrounds and drive in. The closest full-service campground is Village Creek State Park, on Crowley's Ridge near Wynne, about a half-hour southwest. It offers 96 campsites with water and electric hookups, cabins, two lakes, and a 27-hole golf course across nearly 7,000 acres. Lake Poinsett State Park lies north near Harrisburg, a smaller quieter option focused on lake fishing. For Memphis-area access, RVers cross the Mississippi to Tom Sawyer's RV Park in West Memphis for riverfront sites, or stay at Memphis KOA Journey. Sams Town Gambling Hall RV Park in Tunica offers another option south of Memphis.

Village Creek and Lake Poinsett are managed by Arkansas State Parks and share one booking platform at reserve.arkansasstateparks.com. Reservations open up to 12 months ahead. The non-refundable deposit equals the first night's non-discounted rate plus tax, and any cancellation forfeits that deposit. Stays are capped at 14 nights within any 30-day period unless the park superintendent approves an extension. Check-in and check-out are both at 3:00 p.m. Sites hold up to eight people and a maximum of two structures, meaning one RV plus one tent, or two tents. Arkansas residents 62 and over receive a half-price discount Sunday through Thursday, and a 25 percent discount on weekends and holidays. Tom Sawyer's, the Memphis KOA Journey, and Sams Town RV Park each book directly through their own websites or phone lines. For riverfront sites at Tom Sawyer's, reserve well ahead and monitor the Memphis river gauge before arrival.
