Campgrounds near Bloomington, California
Bloomington sits in the Inland Empire of San Bernardino County, wedged between Fontana and Rialto along Interstate 10. The location is a practical staging point for RV trips into the San Bernardino Mountains, the high desert, and the Los Angeles and Orange County attractions to the west. Nearby private RV parks handle the day-to-day basics of full hookups and pull-through access close to the freeway, while public campgrounds in the surrounding national forest cover the forested side of a trip.
Terrace Village RV Park and Reche Canyon Mobile Estate and RV Park serve the immediate Bloomington and Colton area. San Bernardino RV Park sits a short drive east in the city of San Bernardino, and Mission RV Park is convenient for travelers passing through on I-10. North up Lytle Creek Canyon, Bonita Ranch Campground offers a quieter creekside setting inside the San Bernardino National Forest foothills, useful for families who want shade and a creek without driving deep into the mountains.
Things to do near Bloomington
Day trips fan out in every direction. Heading north on I-15, Lytle Creek offers swimming holes, hiking, and the trail to Bonita Falls in the San Bernardino National Forest. Highway 38 climbs east from Redlands into Barton Flats and on to Big Bear Lake, with fishing, boating, and the Alpine Pedal Path along the north shore. Highway 18, the Rim of the World Scenic Byway, reaches Lake Arrowhead and Running Springs. Closer to town, Glen Helen Regional Park and the Glen Helen Amphitheater are minutes away in San Bernardino. Families heading west can reach Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, and the Pomona Fairplex within an hour on uncongested freeways. The Mojave Desert and Joshua Tree National Park lie east on I-10 for cooler-season outings.

Bloomington has a hot, dry Mediterranean climate, with most rain falling between December and March. Winter daytime highs are mild in the valley, but the San Bernardino Mountains receive snow, and Highway 38 and Highway 18 can require chains. Many higher-elevation Forest Service campgrounds, including those around Barton Flats, operate on a seasonal schedule and close or run reduced services in winter.
Spring brings wildflowers and the best window for hiking in the lower canyons before heat sets in. Summer is intense in the valley, with afternoon highs frequently in the 90s and 100s Fahrenheit. RV travelers often base in the mountains in summer because Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead sit thousands of feet higher and run much cooler. Fall is dry, warm, and stable, and is also the peak fire-weather season; Santa Ana wind events can prompt red-flag warnings and temporary forest closures. Check current fire restrictions with the San Bernardino National Forest before any trip involving campfires.

My 2 kids loved the trailer, we got it delivered with all the optionals included so It was a breeze. Everything worked great - ac & heater where required a couple if times. Water tank was full but we ran out after 3 days even thou we used the camping showers, so I would plan accordingly if you are camping without hookups. I’d definitely rent from Daniel again.

I rented Jonathan's trailer to take my family to the Lake Perris Campground. Jonathan was super helpful, walking me through the camper trailer and giving me great advice on how to set everything up. Even during our trip, he was incredibly responsive whenever I had questions. I will definitely rent from him again!

The trailer worked well for us, especially when a cold spell brought temperatures below freezing for couple of nights in the end of May. It was easy to tow up into the mountains and back. Jonathan is a great host. He is very helpful and accommodating, quick to answer questions, flexible with pick-up and drop-off times. Will rent from him again.

How to book
Private parks near Bloomington, including Terrace Village RV Park, Reche Canyon Mobile Estate and RV Park, San Bernardino RV Park, and Mission RV Park, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Bonita Ranch Campground in Lytle Creek books through its own site as well. National Forest campgrounds in the surrounding mountains, such as those at Barton Flats and around Big Bear Lake, are reserved on Recreation.gov, where the standard booking window opens six months ahead of arrival for individual sites and twelve months ahead for group sites. Holiday weekends and summer Saturdays at the mountain campgrounds typically sell out the moment the window opens, so set a calendar reminder. Many Forest Service day-use areas also require a valid recreation pass.
What to expect
Valley parks near Bloomington are functional rather than scenic: paved pads, full hookups, laundry, and quick freeway access, with road noise from I-10 or I-15 at some sites. Expect full hookups including 30 and 50 amp service at the larger private parks. Up the canyon at Bonita Ranch, sites are shaded by trees with the creek running along the property, and cell service is limited the deeper the canyon goes. Mountain campgrounds in the San Bernardino National Forest generally have no hookups but offer flush or vault toilets and drinking water, with dump stations only at select locations. Summer afternoons in the valley are hot, so plan for shade and air conditioning. Bears are active in the higher-elevation campgrounds, so use food lockers where provided and keep the RV secured at night.
