Campgrounds and RV parks near Corona, CA

Chino Hills State Park covers 14,000 acres of rolling, grassy hills and oak and sycamore woodlands, with hiking, mountain biking, bird-watching, and horseback riding on a large network of trails. The Santa Ana River Trail, a paved multi-use path running from Huntington Beach inland toward the mountains, passes alongside Canyon RV Park and is family friendly for cycling. Cleveland National Forest sits south of Corona, with trails into the Santa Ana Mountains and nearby access to Lake Elsinore for boating, fishing, and swimming. Day trips reach Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm in roughly 30 to 45 minutes, the Pacific beaches in about an hour, and Temecula wine country to the south. A ropes course inside Canyon RV Park adds an on-site activity for families.

Spring is the headline season. Online reservations for Chino Hills State Park open six months in advance through ReserveCalifornia and book up fast for weekends and holidays in peak season from March through September. Wildflowers carpet the valleys each spring from March through May, the busiest time to visit, with California poppies, purple lupines, and yellow mustard flowers in bloom. Summer brings hot, dry inland heat with daytime highs frequently in the 90s Fahrenheit, and fire restrictions tighten across the Santa Ana Mountains and the Cleveland National Forest. Open fires are not allowed at Rolling M Ranch due to high fire danger, although gas stoves may be used. Fall stays warm and dry through October, then turns mild with the first storms by late November. Winter sees most of the year's rainfall in short Pacific storm cycles, and Santa Ana wind events can drive elevated fire risk into December. Most private RV resorts in the area, including Canyon RV Park and Lake Park RV Resort and Lodge, operate year-round.

Private RV parks in the area lean toward full-service. Freeway noise is audible at sites close to the 91 corridor. Expect dry, dusty conditions in late summer and fall, and bring sun shade since mature tree cover varies site to site.
