Campgrounds and RV parks near Florence-Graham, CA

From a Florence-Graham base, day trips fan out in every direction. Downtown LA, Exposition Park museums, the LA Coliseum, and the Natural History Museum are minutes north. Hollywood, Griffith Observatory, and Universal Studios sit a short freeway run to the northwest. South toward Long Beach, RVers can tour the Queen Mary, visit the Aquarium of the Pacific, and walk Shoreline Village. Across Pacific Coast Highway from Bolsa Chica State Beach, the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve offers birding, hiking, and wildlife viewing across roughly 1,300 acres of wetlands, and a paved beachside trail of about 8.5 miles connects Bolsa Chica State Beach to Huntington State Beach for biking and walking. Surfing, beach volleyball, and pier fishing round out the coastal options.

Southern California is a year-round RV destination, but the experience shifts by season. Summer (June through August) is the busiest stretch: warm, dry days, packed beaches, and the highest demand at coastal campgrounds. Reserve well ahead for weekends and holiday periods such as Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day. Spring (March through May) often brings the marine-layer pattern locals call May Gray and June Gloom, with cool overcast mornings that burn off by afternoon. It is a comfortable time to tour the city without summer crowds. Fall (September through November) is one of the most pleasant windows: warm, dry, and lower crowds, though Santa Ana wind events can raise wildfire risk inland and trigger air-quality advisories. Winter (December through February) is the wettest season; February is typically the wettest month, bringing an average of around 3.8 inches of rain to downtown LA. Atmospheric river storms can flood low-lying areas and close coastal campsites for short periods. Daytime temperatures remain mild and most parks stay open.

Campgrounds in the greater LA area lean urban. Sites are typically paved or compacted, close together, and surrounded by city sounds: freeway hum, port activity near Long Beach, or aircraft near Van Nuys. Most private parks offer full hookups, laundry, and Wi-Fi rather than a wilderness feel. At Bolsa Chica State Beach, the 57 RV sites are arranged in a paved beachfront lot with water and electric hookups and an on-site dump station; generators are not permitted, and each site has a maximum overnight occupancy of eight people. Traffic on the 405, 110, and 710 is heavy at peak hours; plan travel between campground and attractions outside the morning and evening rush, and budget extra time for fuel stops with a longer rig.
