Campgrounds and RV parks near Rowland Heights, CA

The area combines urban attractions with surprisingly rugged open space. Chino Hills State Park spans more than 14,000 acres with a visitor center, miles of hiking and equestrian trails, picnic areas, and wildlife viewing. Mountain biking is popular on the park's varied terrain, and horseback riding is permitted on designated trails. Puddingstone Lake at Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park, next to Bonelli Bluffs, offers fishing, boating, and the Raging Waters waterpark in summer. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, and the Anaheim Packing District sit within easy reach of the Orange County RV parks. Closer to Rowland Heights, the Puente Hills trail network, the Industry Hills equestrian center, and the dining and shopping along Colima Road keep families occupied between longer day trips.

Southern California's Mediterranean climate makes RV travel near Rowland Heights a year-round proposition, but each season has trade-offs. Spring is the standout window for natural areas. The park is especially beautiful in spring when wildflowers bloom and the hills turn a vibrant green. Trails are green, temperatures are mild, and reservations fill quickly. Summer brings hot, dry inland weather. Daytime highs in the valley regularly push past 90 F, and shade is limited at the state park. Full-hookup resorts with pools and air conditioning become the more comfortable choice. Fire restrictions tighten across the region, and campfires, ground fires, and charcoal BBQs are not permissible at Chino Hills State Park. Fall cools off through October and November and is a strong second-best window for hiking and theme parks, with lighter weekday crowds. Winter is the wet season. Storms are short but can close trails and dirt access roads. The park closes for at least 48 hours following rain exceeding one quarter inch and during Red Flag fire warnings. Private RV resorts stay open year-round.

Expect a mix of resort-style and primitive experiences within a short radius. Private parks near Rowland Heights generally offer paved or gravel pads, full hookups, Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools. Sites can be tight, and rigs are often parked close together in classic Southern California urban RV park layout. Chino Hills State Park is the opposite. Rolling M Ranch is the park's only campground, with 20 developed sites and a restroom and shower facility. Each site has paved parking that can accommodate two cars or recreational vehicles up to 30 feet in length. There are no hook up or dump station facilities. Each site contains a picnic table and lantern post. Open fires are not allowed, but gas stoves may be used. Cell phone service is unreliable throughout the park. Plan for self-contained travel and bring water reserves.
