Campgrounds and RV parks near South San Jose Hills, CA

Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park surrounds Puddingstone Lake and offers mountain biking, family and group picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, RV camping, a water-theme park, and bird watching. The lake itself supports fishing, swimming, and small-boat use. Chino Hills State Park has more than 90 miles of trails across 14,000 acres of grassy hills and walnut woodlands, open to hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians, and bird watchers. Theme parks anchor the south end of the region: Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are roughly 25 miles away, with Knott's Berry Farm and Universal Studios within day-trip range. The Pomona Fairplex hosts the LA County Fair plus year-round trade and consumer shows. For shorter outings, the San Gabriel Mountains foothills, Raging Waters, and the trails around Mount Baldy are all within an hour's drive.

Southern California's Mediterranean climate makes RV travel a year-round option here, but each season has trade-offs. Spring runs March through May and is the best window for Chino Hills State Park: the park is especially beautiful in spring when wildflowers bloom and the hills turn a vibrant green, and this is the busiest time to visit. Trails are green, temperatures are mild, and reservations get tight on weekends. Summer is dry, sunny, and hot inland, with afternoon highs often in the 90s. Campfires are not permitted at Chino Hills State Park due to high fire danger, and similar restrictions apply across regional open spaces during peak fire season, which generally runs late spring through fall. Summer is also peak demand for Disneyland-area RV parks, so Anaheim Harbor RV Park and Orangeland RV Park fill weeks in advance. Fall brings cooler evenings, smaller crowds at the regional parks, and good hiking weather once temperatures drop in October. Winter is the wet season, with most of the annual rainfall arriving between December and February. Travel is still comfortable, though storm systems can briefly close trails and unpaved access roads.

Most RV parks in this corridor are urban or suburban resort-style properties with paved pads, full hookups, pools, and laundry. Bonelli Bluffs features 504 large paved full-hookup sites, including 15 pull-through spaces, and many sites offer views of Puddingstone Lake. Fairplex RV Park provides free Wi-Fi, 183 full RV hookups with 50/30 amp service, furnished cabins, a mini-market, laundry, showers, and a heated pool and spa. Orangeland RV Park has paved, landscaped pull-through sites with a pool and a transit stop for Disneyland. Expect tighter spacing at the Anaheim parks because of their close-in location. Rolling M Ranch is the park's only campground, with 20 developed sites and paved parking that can accommodate two cars or recreational vehicles up to 30 feet in length, and no hookup or dump station facilities.
