Campgrounds and RV parks near Temescal Valley, CA

Soaking at Glen Ivy Hot Springs is the signature activity, with mineral pools, a saline pool, and mud baths just off Glen Ivy Road. Hikers and mountain bikers head into the adjacent Cleveland National Forest and the Santa Ana Mountains for trails on the Trabuco Ranger District, though parts of that district remain affected by the 2024 Airport Fire burn closure. Lake Elsinore, the largest natural freshwater lake in Southern California, is minutes away and offers boating, jet skiing, fishing, and lakeshore picnicking. Temescal Canyon Road provides a scenic drive between Corona and Lake Elsinore, and the Temecula Valley wine country lies a short drive south. Disneyland, Orange County beaches, and downtown San Diego are all reachable as day trips.

Temescal Valley camping runs year-round, with the most comfortable conditions in spring and fall. Spring brings highs in the 70s, green hills after winter rains, and good wildflower viewing in the surrounding ranges. Summer is hot and dry, with August averaging highs near 97°F and very little rainfall, so shaded sites, working air conditioning, and full hookups become priorities. Late summer and fall are peak wildfire season across Riverside and Orange counties, and Cleveland National Forest typically operates under elevated fire restrictions from roughly July through December, limiting wood and charcoal fires to designated rings in developed campgrounds. Winter is mild but the wettest part of the year, with highs in the mid-60s, occasional rain showers, and cool nights in the 40s. Snow is essentially unheard of in the valley itself. Holiday weekends, spring break, and summer weekends at Lake Elsinore are the busiest booking periods, while midweek stays outside summer are generally quieter.

Expect a Southern California Inland Empire setting rather than a forest experience: most parks sit near Interstate 15 or Temescal Canyon Road, so some traffic noise is normal. Sites tend to be paved or graveled with full hookups, swimming pools, laundry, and small camp stores, and parks such as Glen Ivy RV Park have a mix of overnight travelers and longer-term residents. Summer afternoons are hot and dry, and shade varies by park, so a working air conditioner matters. Wildlife sightings include rabbits, roadrunners, and the occasional coyote. Cell coverage is generally strong along the I-15 corridor. Travelers headed onto adjacent Cleveland National Forest lands should check current fire orders and road closures before going.
