Campgrounds and RV parks near Walnut, CA

Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park surrounds Bonelli Bluffs RV Resort and Campground and offers mountain biking, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, jogging, nature walks, and a water-theme park, plus boating and fishing on Puddingstone Lake. Raging Waters Los Angeles operates inside the same park during the warm months. Chino Hills State Park spans roughly 14,000 acres of grassy hills and black walnut woodlands, with an extensive trail network and spring wildflower viewing as the marquee draw. Day trips from Walnut reach Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm in Anaheim, the beaches of Orange County, the Angeles National Forest, and the wineries of the Cucamonga Valley. The Fairplex hosts the LA County Fair, NHRA drag racing, and large trade shows, all walkable from Fairplex RV Park.

Walnut sits in a Mediterranean climate, so most campgrounds in the area operate year-round, but the experience changes sharply by season. Spring is the headline window for Chino Hills State Park: wildflowers carpet the valleys from March through May, and this is the busiest time to visit. Reserve early for that stretch. Summer brings heat into the upper 80s and 90s, heavy theme-park crowds, and elevated fire risk in the surrounding hills. Pool-equipped parks like Bonelli Bluffs and Fairplex RV Park become especially useful. Late summer and fall are peak wildfire and red-flag-warning months across Southern California, and campfire restrictions are common in state and regional parks. At Chino Hills State Park's Rolling M Ranch Campground, open fires are not allowed, but gas stoves may be used. Winter is the wettest period, with most rain falling between December and February. Sites remain available, temperatures are mild, and demand drops outside the holiday weeks. Fairplex RV Park fills around major Fairplex events regardless of season.

Hookup levels vary widely. Bonelli Bluffs RV Resort and Campground offers 504 large paved full-hookup sites, including 15 pull-through spaces, with 30 and 50 amp service and lake or mountain views from many sites. Fairplex RV Park provides full hook-up sites with 50/30 amp service, plus laundry, showers, and a pool, but sites are tighter and closer to urban surroundings. Chino Hills State Park's Rolling M Ranch Campground is primitive: 20 sites with paved parking for RVs up to 30 feet, flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water, but no hookups and no dump station. Cell coverage is generally strong across the area. Expect freeway noise at urban parks, and plan around weekday traffic on the 10, 57, 60, and 605 freeways when arriving or departing.
