Campgrounds and RV parks near Gypsum, CO

The Colorado River and Eagle River are the region's main draws for RV travelers. Rafting, fly fishing, and paddling are available through Glenwood Canyon, and a paved recreation and bike path runs through the canyon. Hot springs, caverns, and the adventure park in Glenwood Springs sit about 30 minutes west. South of town, Sylvan Lake State Park offers a 42-acre stocked mountain lake reached via Brush Creek Road. Sylvan Lake State Park allows year-round camping, with winter sites available on a first-come, first-served basis and limited amenities from November 1 through May 14. Expect a high-country climate. Even in summer, overnight lows in the valley can drop into the 40s Fahrenheit, and sites near Sylvan Lake are noticeably cooler. Afternoon storms build quickly, so plan hikes and paddles for the morning. Hookup standards vary. Riverfront and resort sites along the Eagle River and in Glenwood Canyon typically offer full or partial hookups. Sylvan Lake campsites have no individual hookups; camper cabins provide heat, limited solar lighting, a vault toilet, and drinking water from a nearby hydrant, with access to a camper services building with flush toilets and coin showers from mid-May through mid-October. Cell service is spotty once off I-70. Wildlife is active: deer, elk, and black bears live throughout the area. Store food securely, keep pets leashed, and expect gravel access roads on the way to higher-elevation sites.
