Campgrounds and RV parks near Silver Cliff, CO

Silver Cliff sits in the Wet Mountain Valley at roughly 7,982 feet, sharing a boundary with Westcliffe and looking west toward the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The town is a former silver-mining settlement in Custer County, with easy access to San Isabel National Forest, the Frontier Pathway scenic byway, and the Rainbow Trail. Camping options range from full-hookup RV parks in town to primitive public-land sites on nearby forest and wildlife-area lands. RV travelers commonly base out of Wet Mountain RV Park and Cabins, a small park within walking distance of both Westcliffe and Silver Cliff. For a more rustic stay, Middle Taylor Creek State Wildlife Area sits on the west side of the valley near the base of the Sangres, while Temple Canyon Park offers primitive sites on Grape Creek about 8 miles southwest of Cañon City. Sweetwater River Resort and Aspen Acres Campground round out the regional options for travelers willing to drive a bit farther. Westcliffe and Silver Cliff hold Colorado's first International Dark Sky Community designation, which shapes the after-dark experience at every nearby campground.

Private RV parks in the Westcliffe and Silver Cliff area handle bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends fill early during festival dates and star-party weekends, so reserve well ahead. Wet Mountain RV Park and Cabins is a small property with a mix of RV sites and cabins, so availability tightens quickly in July and August. Public land follows different rules. Middle Taylor Creek State Wildlife Area is managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and anyone 16 or older needs a valid hunting or fishing license or an SWA pass to enter. Temple Canyon Park is operated by the City of Cañon City on a reservation system from April through October, then shifts to walk-in, first-come first-served from November through March.
