Campgrounds and RV parks near Snowmass Village, CO

Snowmass Village sits in the Roaring Fork Valley in western Colorado, next door to Aspen and surrounded by the White River National Forest and the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. Campgrounds in the area sit at elevations ranging from roughly 8,000 to 10,000 feet, which shapes both the season and what to pack. Full-hookup RV parks are limited within Snowmass Village itself, so most RV travelers base out of the down-valley communities of Basalt, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs, then drive in for the day. Commercial options within roughly an hour include Carbondale / Crystal River KOA Holiday, River Dance RV Resort, and Mountainside RV Park. For a state-park experience, Sylvan Lake State Park sits south of Eagle off I-70, at about 8,500 feet in the White River National Forest. Crested Butte RV Resort is on the far side of the Elk Mountains and is a common stop for travelers combining Aspen with Gunnison County. Most campgrounds in the region require bear-resistant food storage due to active black bear populations, and cell service is spotty at higher-elevation sites.

Private RV parks near Snowmass Village, including Carbondale / Crystal River KOA Holiday, River Dance RV Resort, and Mountainside RV Park, book directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends sell out weeks ahead, so lock in dates before finalizing a Maroon Bells reservation. Sylvan Lake State Park uses the Colorado Parks and Wildlife reservation system. A reservation is required to camp, and sites, yurts, and cabins can be booked online at cpwshop.com or by phone, up to six months in advance of the arrival date. For day trips to the Maroon Bells, reservations are required whether visiting by car or shuttle, made through the Aspen Chamber Resort Association at visitmaroonbells.com. Forest Service campgrounds along Maroon Creek Road, including Silver Bell, Silver Queen, and Silver Bar, and other campgrounds in the White River National Forest book through recreation.gov.
