Campgrounds and RV parks near Atlantis, FL

The biggest family draw near Atlantis is Lion Country Safari, a 320-acre drive-through wild animal preserve and adventure park adjacent to the KOA campground. Campers staying at the West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey receive discount tickets to the safari, available at the campground office. Beaches are the other main attraction. From most area campgrounds, travelers can reach Lake Worth Beach, Boynton Beach, Juno Beach, Jupiter, and Riviera Beach within a short drive. Juno Beach is known for its sea turtle nesting, which runs roughly from March through October, and the adjacent Loggerhead Marinelife Center offers exhibits on marine conservation. The Palm Beach Zoo, the Cox Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach, and the Manatee Lagoon at FPL's Riviera Beach visitor center round out the family-friendly options.

South Florida runs on a two-season rhythm that shapes every camping trip. Summers in the West Palm Beach area are hot, cloudy, and very humid, while winters are sunny, dry, and mild. Winter, from roughly December through March, is peak season for RV travel in the Atlantis area. Snowbirds fill long-stay resorts, weekend sites book out early, and daytime highs sit comfortably in the mid-70s for beach days and outdoor activities. Spring and early summer bring warmer, more humid conditions and rising afternoon storm activity. Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, with the highest risk from August through October. Travelers should monitor National Hurricane Center forecasts during this window and be prepared for possible evacuations or park closures. Summer is the rainy, hot, and humid season, with nearly daily afternoon thunderstorms. Fall shoulder months bring lower crowds but a higher chance of tropical weather; late fall into early winter is often the sweet spot for good weather and available sites.

Most campgrounds near Atlantis are full-hookup properties on flat, paved or concrete sites, built for larger rigs and long-term guests. Expect gated access, laundry, pools, and short drives to grocery stores. At the West Palm Beach / Lion Country Safari KOA Journey, check-in is 1:00 PM for RV and tent sites and 3:00 PM for cabins, with quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Open-fire policies are strict in South Florida. The KOA does not allow real wood or ground fires, but guests may bring their own elevated fire ring and burn artificial logs or charcoal. Pet policies vary by park, and the KOA has breed restrictions, so confirm rules when booking. Humidity, mosquitoes, and sudden afternoon thunderstorms are normal from late spring through fall. Bring bug spray, awning tie-downs, and a plan for shade.
