Campgrounds near Bee Ridge
Bee Ridge is a suburban community in central Sarasota County, Florida, roughly six miles inland from Siesta Key and the Gulf of Mexico. The area sits along the Bee Ridge Road corridor between I-75 and US-41, which puts RV travellers within a short drive of Gulf beaches, downtown Sarasota, and the county's two nearby state parks.
Most overnight options near Bee Ridge are private RV parks and mobile-home communities rather than public campgrounds. At the two closest state parks, Myakka River and Oscar Scherer, sites offer water and electric hookups, and Myakka River State Park adds a newer loop with full-hookup sites for larger rigs. Both state parks are within 30 to 40 minutes of Bee Ridge by road.
Close to Bee Ridge itself, RV travellers typically choose Sarasota Sunny South RV and MH Park, Royal Palms Mobile Home Park, Sun Outdoors Sarasota, Palm Terrace, or Sarasota Lakes RV Resort. These properties cater to snowbirds and short-stay guests, with paved pads, full hookups, and pools common across the group.
Things to do around Bee Ridge
Beaches are the main draw. Siesta Key, Lido Key, and Turtle Beach are all within 20 to 25 minutes of Bee Ridge, and Siesta Key is known for its fine quartz sand. Downtown Sarasota adds the Ringling museum complex, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, and St. Armands Circle for dining and shopping.
For outdoor days, Myakka River State Park is a short drive east and covers over 37,000 acres of wetlands, prairies, and hammocks along the Myakka River, with airboat tours, a canopy walkway, kayaking, and reliable alligator and wading-bird sightings. Oscar Scherer State Park to the south adds pine flatwoods trails and a swimming lake.
Families staying at Sun Outdoors Sarasota or Sarasota Lakes RV Resort often mix beach mornings with afternoons at Mote Marine Aquarium or the Sarasota Jungle Gardens.

The Sarasota area has two clear travel seasons. The climate is subtropical, with very mild winters that occasionally see short cold waves, and hot, humid summers with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Winter and early spring are the peak RV months, when snowbirds fill private parks for weeks or months at a time. Sites at Sarasota Sunny South RV and MH Park, Palm Terrace, and Sarasota Lakes RV Resort often book out months in advance for January through March.
Late spring is a sweet spot for shorter trips. Mid-March to mid-April is a reliable window, and by May the weather is generally excellent, with fewer thunderstorms than in summer and lower humidity than later in the year.
Summer brings daily storms and peak humidity, with August the wettest month. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November and peaks in August and September, so RV travellers watch forecasts closely and confirm cancellation policies before booking mid-summer to mid-fall stays.

How to book a campsite
Private parks near Bee Ridge, including Sun Outdoors Sarasota, Sarasota Lakes RV Resort, and Royal Palms Mobile Home Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For winter stays, contact them as early as possible, since many sites are held by returning seasonal renters.
For the two nearby state parks, bookings go through the Florida State Parks reservation system. Florida residents may make campsite or cabin reservations up to 11 months in advance, and non-Florida residents up to 10 months in advance. Reservations can be made online at the Florida State Parks reservation website or by calling 800-326-3521 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Any campsites not reserved or occupied may be rented to walk-in visitors on a first-come, first-served basis, which is worth trying midweek in shoulder season.
What to expect on site
Private parks close to Bee Ridge lean toward a resort-community feel: paved interior roads, level concrete or gravel pads, full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, laundry, pools, and clubhouse activities. Sarasota Lakes RV Resort and Sun Outdoors Sarasota are set up for larger Class A and fifth-wheel rigs, while Royal Palms Mobile Home Park and Palm Terrace mix RV sites with permanent mobile homes and skew quieter.
At Myakka River State Park, expect a more natural setting across three campgrounds totalling 90 sites. The Palmetto Ridge loop has 42 gravel sites with full hookups and accommodates rigs up to 45 feet, while Big Flats and Old Prairie offer water and electric only and suit smaller rigs. Sites are shaded, mosquitoes are active most of the year, and cell service can be patchy under the tree canopy.
Across the area, plan for daily afternoon storms in summer, sunny mild days in winter, and pet rules that typically require leashes and vaccination records at check-in.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Bee Ridge, FL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Bee Ridge, FL?
Good news: RV rental in Bee Ridge, FL is more affordable than most Gulf Coast hotels once you factor in lodging plus transportation. On RVezy, motorhomes near Sarasota average around $200 per night, while towable travel trailers come in closer to $120 per night. Most hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly bookings, which is a smart move for snowbird stays. Looking for a cheap RV rental in Bee Ridge for a weekend Siesta Key getaway? Filter by travel trailer, set a budget range, and message hosts directly about midweek discounts. Pro tip: booking shoulder-season dates in May or early November can shave 20 to 30 percent off peak winter prices.
visitsarasota.com/campgrounds-rvsDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Bee Ridge?
Great news for first-time renters: Florida does not require a special license or CDL to drive a personal-use RV, so your standard Class E driver's license is all you need for nearly every motorhome or trailer on RVezy. You will need to be at least 25 years old to book on RVezy, and your ID is verified securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from another country? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit, which most auto associations issue for under $25. That's it, no road test, no endorsement. Most people are surprised how easy renting an RV in Sarasota County actually is.
flhsmv.gov/driver-licenses-id-cards/What kind of protection is included with my RVezy booking?
You're covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Bee Ridge on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on State Road 72 or a dead battery at the Myakka River State Park trailhead is just a phone call away. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level (Basic, Standard, or Premium) during checkout, not the host. Roadside assistance is included with every plan. Pro tip: review the coverage tiers before booking and pick the one that matches how adventurous your itinerary is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Bee Ridge RV rental?
Booking with peace of mind is built into every RVezy trip. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the individual host), and there is a full money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates without stress. After that, refund eligibility depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after your trip to walk you through your options if something unexpected comes up. Pro tip: book early to secure peak January through March dates in Bee Ridge, then relax knowing the cancellation policy is clearly defined and applied consistently across every listing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Bee Ridge?
Absolutely, your dog is welcome on the trip. A pet-friendly RV rental in Bee Ridge is easy to find on RVezy: toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers whose hosts welcome four-legged guests. Sarasota County is genuinely dog-friendly, too. Brohard Paw Park in Venice (about 25 minutes south) is one of the few off-leash dog beaches on Florida's Gulf Coast, and Bee Ridge Park has shaded paths for an evening walk. Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees and size limits. Pro tip: pack a cooling mat and booties since Florida pavement gets hot fast in summer.
scgov.net/government/parks-recreation-and-natural-resources/parks-and-preservesCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or vacation rental?
Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your trip. RV delivery in Bee Ridge is offered by many RVezy hosts, who will tow or drive the rig straight to Myakka River State Park, Sun Outdoors Sarasota, Turtle Beach Campground on Siesta Key, or even a friend's driveway off Bee Ridge Road. They'll level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery is especially popular with first-time renters and travel-trailer guests without a tow vehicle. Pro tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy and message the host with your destination zip code to get an exact delivery quote upfront.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/myakka-river-state-parkHow far can I drive, and how do mileage policies work?
You've got plenty of road to roam from Bee Ridge. Each RVezy host sets a daily mileage allowance (often 100 to 150 free miles per day), with additional miles available at a flat per-mile rate. Some listings even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for longer Florida road trips. From Bee Ridge you're only 9 miles to Siesta Key, 20 miles to Myakka River State Park, 60 miles to Fort De Soto in St. Petersburg, 130 miles to the Everglades, and about 230 miles to Walt Disney World resorts in Orlando. Pro tip: tally your planned miles before booking and filter for unlimited-mileage listings if you're chasing a multi-stop itinerary.
fdot.gov/agencyresources/mapsWhere are the best campgrounds near Bee Ridge for my RV trip?
You're surrounded by some of Florida's most loved campgrounds. The best campgrounds near Bee Ridge include Myakka River State Park (20 miles east on SR-72, with 80 RV sites across Old Prairie, Big Flats, and Palmetto Ridge loops), Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey (15 minutes south, great for scrub-jay spotting), Sun Outdoors Sarasota on Fruitville Road (resort-style with 150+ activities), Turtle Beach Campground on Siesta Key (waterfront sites steps from the Gulf), and Sarasota Bay RV Park in Bradenton. Pro tip: state park sites release exactly 11 months in advance at 8 a.m. ET and sell out within minutes for winter, so set a calendar reminder.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/myakka-river-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Bee Ridge?
The sweet spot for an RV camping trip in Bee Ridge is mid-November through April, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s°F and humidity drops dramatically. Winter is peak snowbird season for a reason. Spring (March-May) brings warm Gulf swims and wildflower blooms at Myakka River State Park. Summer (June-September) is hot, humid, and the official Atlantic hurricane season, but you'll find the lowest nightly rates and shortest campground waitlists. October is a hidden gem once the rainy season tapers. Pro tip: book January and February dates by August to lock in your preferred Sarasota RV rental and campsite combo.
weather.gov/tbw/I've never rented an RV before. Will I actually be able to do this?
Yes, and first time renting an RV in Bee Ridge is one of the easier ways to start. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup: how the slide-outs work, how to dump the tanks, how to hook up to water and 30/50-amp shore power, plus a copy of the manual. You can message the host with questions before you book, and many Bee Ridge area hosts offer delivery and setup, which removes the trickiest part entirely (driving the rig). Pro tip: start with a smaller Class C motorhome or a delivered travel trailer at Myakka River State Park, and your learning curve will feel like an afternoon, not a vacation.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106394-How-to-pay-for-your-bookingWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never on your own out there. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the protection plan, so a flat tire on I-75, a dead battery at Lido Beach, or a tow needed off Bee Ridge Road is one phone call away. Beyond roadside, RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip to help with anything from a finicky generator to a campground question. Your host is also usually a quick text away and knows their RV better than anyone. Pro tip: save the RVezy 24/7 roadside number and your host's number to your phone before you pull out of the driveway, then enjoy your Bee Ridge RV trip stress-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trip destinations from Bee Ridge?
You're sitting at the launchpad for some of Florida's best routes. Popular RV road trips from Bee Ridge include the Gulf Coast loop south to Naples (90 miles) and into the Everglades (130 miles), the Florida Keys run down U.S. 1 (about 360 miles to Key West), a quick hop up to Tampa, Clearwater, and Crystal River (60 to 100 miles for manatee snorkeling), and an east-coast crossing to Cocoa Beach (170 miles) via Orlando theme parks. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals, and crossing into other states is fine on most listings. Pro tip: message the host about cross-state travel before booking long-haul routes so they can confirm mileage allowances.
visitflorida.com/things-to-do/scenic-drives/How much should I budget for fuel on my Bee Ridge RV trip?
Fuel is easier to plan than most first-timers expect. Regular gas in the Sarasota-Bradenton area has averaged roughly $3.00 to $3.95 per gallon over the past year (diesel runs higher), and Class C motorhomes typically deliver 8 to 12 miles per gallon while travel trailers reduce your tow vehicle's mpg by 25 to 40 percent. For a 200-mile weekend loop to Myakka and Siesta Key, plan on roughly $60 to $90 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at warehouse clubs along Bee Ridge Road or Clark Road before heading east on SR-72, where stations are sparse once you pass I-75.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=FLHow far in advance should I book a campground near Bee Ridge?
Earlier is better, but you've still got options. Florida State Parks (Myakka River, Oscar Scherer, Lake Manatee) release reservations exactly 11 months in advance through ReserveAmerica's Florida portal, and winter sites genuinely book out within minutes of release. Private parks like Sun Outdoors Sarasota and Sarasota Bay RV Park accept reservations year-round and tend to have more midweek availability. Aim to book 6 to 11 months out for January through March, 2 to 4 months for shoulder season, and a few weeks ahead for summer. Pro tip: set a calendar alarm for 8 a.m. ET on the exact release day, and have your dates plus a backup loop ready to go.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservationsWhat are local driving conditions like around Bee Ridge?
Driving an RV around Bee Ridge is friendlier than most Florida metros. The terrain is flat, sea level to about 30 feet of elevation, with no mountain passes or steep grades to worry about. I-75 runs north-south right past Bee Ridge for easy interstate access, and U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) gives a slower scenic alternative. Watch for low clearances under the Ringling Causeway approach (about 12 feet 6 inches) and avoid the narrow streets of downtown Sarasota and St. Armands Circle with larger Class A rigs. Summer afternoon thunderstorms roll in fast. Pro tip: check the Florida 511 traffic app before driving I-75 in winter when snowbird traffic spikes.
fl511.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Bee Ridge?
You'll find a comfortable mix of rustic and resort. Most developed campgrounds around Bee Ridge offer 30/50-amp electric and water hookups, with full hookups (sewer included) at Palmetto Ridge in Myakka River State Park and at private resorts like Sun Outdoors Sarasota. Dump stations are standard at state parks, and freshwater fill is available at park entrances and at the Myakka Outpost. Showers, flush toilets, laundry, and Wi-Fi vary; state parks lean basic-but-clean while private resorts add pools, pickleball, and cafés. Pro tip: Myakka River State Park has had intermittent potable water issues, so top off your RV's freshwater tank in Bee Ridge before heading out and you'll camp worry-free.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/myakka-river-state-parkWhat's inside the RVs available for rent in Bee Ridge?
You'll feel right at home. Motorhome rentals in Bee Ridge typically come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, dinette and sofa that convert into extra sleeping space, a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink), an enclosed bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted air conditioning (essential in Florida), a furnace, and seatbelted travel seats. Most include a flat-screen TV, and many hosts offer Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor speakers, and onboard generators as add-ons. Campervan rental in Bee Ridge is also growing, perfect for couples chasing Siesta Key sunsets. Pro tip: scan each listing's amenity list and message the host to confirm AC capacity, because Florida summer makes a strong air conditioner non-negotiable.
flhsmv.gov/safety-center/consumer-education/recreational-vehicles/What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts make it easy to customize your Bee Ridge RV trip. Popular add-ons include bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits, generators, bike racks, beach chairs and umbrellas, paddleboards, and pet packages, each priced individually by the host. Pickup is usually from the host's home in or around Sarasota, and many offer delivery to campgrounds, vacation rentals, or Sarasota-Bradenton Airport (SRQ) for a delivery fee based on distance. Mileage policies and generator-hour limits vary listing by listing, so read the details on the listing page. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package on your first booking, and your motorhome rental in Bee Ridge becomes a walk-in vacation home.
srq-airport.com/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. You pay through RVezy's platform during booking using a supported credit card, never directly to the host, which keeps your money protected. A separate refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card (the amount depends on the RV and your chosen protection plan) and released after the host confirms the RV was returned in good shape, typically within a few days of trip end. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a short walkaround video of the RV at pickup and dropoff. It takes two minutes and is the single best way to avoid any deposit disputes after your Bee Ridge RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I handle Florida's heat and hurricane season in an RV?
Florida's climate is very manageable with a little prep. Most RV rentals in Bee Ridge come with roof-mounted air conditioning, and many hosts allow generator use for AC when you're not on shore power (confirm hours in the listing). Drink water constantly, park in shade when possible, and run errands in the cooler morning. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with peak risk in August and September. If a named storm threatens Sarasota County, contact RVezy support to review your options under the standard cancellation policy, and check the Florida Division of Emergency Management for evacuation routes. Pro tip: download the FL511 and NOAA Weather apps before your family RV trip in Bee Ridge so weather updates come straight to your phone.
