Campgrounds and RV parks near Gateway, FL

Gateway is a planned community on the east side of Lee County, just off I-75 at exit 138 and next to Southwest Florida International Airport. The surrounding Fort Myers metro area is one of Florida's densest clusters of RV parks and 55-plus resorts, with numerous full-hookup properties within a short drive of Gateway itself. Most sit along the Caloosahatchee River corridor, US-41, and the Palm Beach Boulevard (SR-80) stretch east of downtown. Close-in options include Lazy J RV and Mobile Home Park, Cypress Trail RV Resort, Orange Grove Mobile Home and RV Park, Tice Mobile Home and RV Park, and Sun-N-Fun Mobile Homeowners and RV Park. These are private parks that mix long-term residents with transient RV sites, so availability tightens sharply once snowbird season begins. Gateway itself has no public campground. The closest state-run RV camping is at Koreshan State Park in Estero and Cayo Costa State Park on the barrier islands, both reservable through the Florida State Parks system. Gateway's location also puts campers within reach of the Gulf beaches, the Everglades, and the Charlotte Harbor estuary.

Private RV parks near Gateway generally take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites, and many also list nightly and weekly inventory on Campspot, RoverPass, or Good Sam. For winter stays, book six to twelve months out. For summer and early fall, a few weeks is usually enough. Florida State Parks such as Koreshan and Cayo Costa use the state's central reservation system. Florida residents can book up to 11 months in advance, while non-residents are limited to 10 months. Winter weekends at popular parks are often booked the moment the window opens. Federal sites, including Big Cypress National Preserve campgrounds to the southeast, are booked through Recreation.gov. Confirm rig-length limits, age restrictions (several nearby parks are 55-plus), and pet policies before paying a deposit.
