Campgrounds near Lochmoor Waterway Estates
Lochmoor Waterway Estates is an unincorporated community in Lee County, Florida, sitting along canals off the tidal Caloosahatchee River in the North Fort Myers area, directly across the water from downtown Fort Myers and bordered by Cape Coral to the south and west. The location puts RV travelers within a short drive of the Gulf beaches on Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel, the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, and the wider Cape Coral canal network.
Most RV options in the immediate area are established, snowbird-oriented parks rather than wilderness campgrounds. Southwind Mobile Home and RV Park, Florida Park Fort Myers, Jones Mobile Home and RV Park, Swan Lake Village Manufactured Homes and RV Resort, and Tamiami RV Park all sit within the Fort Myers and North Fort Myers corridor, offering full-hookup sites, paved pads, and easy access to US-41 and I-75.
For state-park camping with hookups, travelers typically drive south to the Estero River area, where Koreshan State Park anchors the closest public campground network.
Things to do near Lochmoor Waterway Estates
The Caloosahatchee River and its canal system dominate local recreation. Boating, kayaking, and fishing are the default activities, with public launches in North Fort Myers and Cape Coral providing quick access to the river and, downstream, to San Carlos Bay and the Gulf.
Families staying at Southwind Mobile Home and RV Park or Florida Park Fort Myers are within reach of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, the Manatee Park seasonal viewing area on the Orange River, and the beaches at Fort Myers Beach and Bunche Beach Preserve. Sun Splash Family Waterpark in Cape Coral is a short drive for kids.
Further south, the Estero River offers paddling into Estero Bay Preserve State Park and out toward Mound Key Archaeological State Park, both reachable by kayak.

Southwest Florida runs on a two-season calendar. The dry season, from roughly November through April, brings warm days, cool nights, and low humidity. This is peak RV season: snowbirds fill parks like Swan Lake Village Manufactured Homes and RV Resort and Tamiami RV Park from January through March, and monthly sites are often reserved far in advance.
The wet season runs from June into early October and is defined by daily afternoon thunderstorms, high humidity, and heat indices well into the triple digits. Rainfall is heaviest from June through September, and mosquitoes become a factor near canals and the Estero River.
Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30, with peak activity from mid-August through mid-October. Lee County was directly impacted by Hurricane Ian, and some coastal parks and infrastructure are still recovering. Travelers planning fall trips should monitor the National Hurricane Center and confirm campground status before arrival.

This was my 1st time renting an RV. Cathy and Jose were fantastic to work with. From explaining the overall process to an “orientation meeting”, they were so helpful. Weather and traffic delayed my return by a couple of hours. Communication remained open and all was fine. Excellent vehicle and even better support where needed. We’ll definitely keep Cathy and Jose in mind for our next adventure 😉

My experience with Jose and his wife was amazing. They were very attentive and proactive with my needs. The RV was outstanding and we fell in love with not only the RV but the overall experience.

Booking a campsite
Private parks in the Fort Myers and North Fort Myers area, including Southwind Mobile Home and RV Park, Jones Mobile Home and RV Park, and Tamiami RV Park, are booked directly through each park's office or website. Winter demand is heavy, so RV renters targeting January through March should reserve several months out, and longer for monthly stays.
For Florida state parks, Koreshan State Park in the Fort Myers-Estero area is the closest public campground with RV hookups. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance through the Florida State Parks reservations website or by calling 800-326-3521. The campground has space for tents and RVs up to 40 feet, all with electric and water hookups.
County parks in Lee County and nearby Charlotte County use their own booking portals separate from the state system.
What to expect on the ground
Parks in the Lochmoor Waterway Estates area lean residential. Expect long-term and seasonal residents mixed with transient RV sites, quiet hours enforced strictly, and amenities aimed at retirees: clubhouses, pools, shuffleboard, and organized activities during winter. Sites are generally level with concrete or gravel pads and full hookups.
Shade is limited compared to central and north Florida parks. Bring awnings, and plan for strong sun exposure at Florida Park Fort Myers and similar open-layout parks. Cell coverage is reliable across the metro area.
Roads into the neighborhood are narrow residential streets with speed bumps, and access to larger RVs is easier from Hancock Bridge Parkway and US-41 than from interior canal streets. Grocery, fuel, and RV supply stops are concentrated along Cleveland Avenue and Pine Island Road.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Lochmoor Waterway Estates, FL?
RV rental in Lochmoor Waterway Estates is more affordable than you might expect, especially if you plan around the seasons. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $300 per night, and larger Class A rigs go higher. Winter (December through March) is peak snowbird season in Southwest Florida, so booking 2 to 3 months ahead locks in better rates. Pro tip: hosts just across the Caloosahatchee in Fort Myers or Cape Coral often have the best value on weekly stays.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lochmoor%20Waterway%20Estates%2C%20FloridaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Lochmoor Waterway Estates, FL?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Lochmoor Waterway Estates. Florida exempts personal-use recreational vehicles from Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requirements, and a standard Class E Florida license (or your home state's equivalent) covers motorhomes and travel trailers under 26,000 pounds, which is nearly every rig on RVezy. To book, you must be 25 or older with a valid license, and ID verification happens right inside the platform. Visiting from abroad? Pair your home license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your auto association before flying in. That's it, you're ready to head to Cape Coral or Sanibel.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection comes with my RV rental in Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
Every RVezy booking in Lochmoor Waterway Estates includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can drive off feeling covered from the moment you leave the host's driveway. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level (Basic, Standard, or Premium) during checkout, not the host. This gives renters real financial peace of mind whether you're crossing the Caloosahatchee Bridge into downtown Fort Myers or parking at Koreshan State Park. Pro tip: review the coverage options carefully at booking; upgrading is often just a few dollars a night and makes the whole trip more relaxed.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Lochmoor Waterway Estates RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and there's a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in dates with confidence. Refund amounts after that depend on how far out from your trip you cancel. You won't see a cancellation policy printed on each listing because it's handled at the platform level. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds guests or provides travel credits. Pro tip: if a named storm enters the Gulf, reach out to RVezy support right away; they're available before, during, and after every trip to help you replan.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
Absolutely, and Southwest Florida is a dream for dog owners. Many RVezy hosts in the Lochmoor Waterway Estates area welcome pets; just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search, and you'll see only the listings that allow them. A pet-friendly RV rental in Lochmoor Waterway Estates pairs perfectly with nearby spots like the leash-friendly campsites at Koreshan State Park (six-foot leash rule) and the dog-friendly stretch of Dog Beach at Lovers Key, about 25 miles south. Pro tip: message the host before booking to share your dog's size and breed; most are happy to confirm and may waive small cleaning fees for well-behaved pups.
floridastateparks.org/learn/pets-florida-state-parksCan I get RV delivery to my campground in Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
Yes, RV delivery in Lochmoor Waterway Estates is one of the easiest ways to start a stress-free trip. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV to your campground, vacation rental, or even a private driveway, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. This is gold for first-timers and for travelers flying into Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), about 20 miles southeast. Filter by Delivery on the search page to see who offers it, and check the listing for the per-mile delivery fee. Pro tip: ask for delivery straight to Koreshan State Park or Seminole Campground and skip the driving entirely.
flyrsw.com/How far can I drive on a Lochmoor Waterway Estates RV trip?

Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is a smart pick if you're planning a longer loop. From Lochmoor Waterway Estates, popular drives include Sanibel Island (about 25 miles), Naples (45 miles), Everglades National Park's Shark Valley entrance (about 100 miles), Key Largo (around 175 miles), and Orlando theme parks (about 165 miles). Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.45 each, but you can preview the policy on every listing. Pro tip: if you're eyeing the Keys, book unlimited mileage upfront, it pays for itself fast.
nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/directions.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
You're spoiled for choice. Some of the best campgrounds near Lochmoor Waterway Estates include Seminole Campground & RV Park in North Fort Myers (full hookups, 30/50 amp, oak-shaded sites along Popash Creek, about 5 miles away), Upriver RV Resort on the Caloosahatchee (55+, heated pool, boat ramp, around 12 miles east), Raintree RV Resort (clean, pool, family-friendly), and Koreshan State Park in Estero (60 wooded sites, 40-foot RV max, on the Estero River, about 20 miles south). Pro tip: state park sites at Koreshan book up 10 to 11 months ahead for winter, so set a reminder and snag your dates the moment the window opens.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/koreshan-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for RV camping in Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Lochmoor Waterway Estates is November through April, when daytime highs sit around 75 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit, humidity drops, and mosquitoes ease up. This is also peak snowbird season, so book early. Late spring (May) and early fall (October) are warmer (mid 80s to low 90s) but offer lower nightly rates and fewer crowds. Summer brings 90 degree heat, high humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms, plus Atlantic hurricane season from June 1 to November 30. Pro tip: shoulder-season travelers in October often score winter-quality weather at half the price, and Sanibel sunsets in November are legendary.
weather.gov/tbw/I'm a first-time renter. Will the host help me figure things out?
Yes, and that's one of the best parts of renting from a real owner. First time renting an RV? Every RVezy host gives a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, showing you the propane, generator, slide-outs, water hookups, dump procedure, awning, and AC, so you leave knowing exactly how everything works. Many Lochmoor Waterway Estates and Cape Coral hosts even share custom cheat sheets and short videos. You can also message the host before booking from the listing page with any question. Pro tip: ask your host for their top local recommendation; locals know the calmest launch ramp for kayaks on the Caloosahatchee and the best sandbar at Picnic Island.
rvezy.com/What if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RV rental in Lochmoor Waterway Estates booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing if needed. Your host is also just a message away for quick questions like, 'how do I reset the inverter?' And RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after the trip. Southwest Florida has plenty of RV-friendly service centers along I-75, and Lee County's well-maintained roads make help easy to reach. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone and snap a photo of the RV's VIN at pickup so any call is fast and frictionless.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take an RV road trip from Lochmoor Waterway Estates to other states or Canada?
You can absolutely turn this into a multi-state adventure. An RV road trip from Lochmoor Waterway Estates commonly heads up I-75 to Tampa (about 130 miles), east on Alligator Alley to Miami (150 miles), north to Savannah, Georgia (around 450 miles), or up the Atlantic coast toward the Carolinas. Cross-border travel into Canada is allowed on many RVezy rentals, but confirm with your host before booking since insurance varies by listing. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because the protection package doesn't cover it. Pro tip: for a classic Florida loop, drive the Overseas Highway (US-1) toward Key Largo and stop at Bahia Honda State Park.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat should I budget for fuel on a Southwest Florida RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier line items to plan here because Florida gas prices typically sit near the national average and the terrain is famously flat. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes 8 to 14, and large Class A rigs 6 to 10. For a 300-mile loop from Lochmoor Waterway Estates to Naples, the Everglades, and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in gas. Big stations along US-41 and I-75 (Wawa, RaceTrac, Pilot at Exit 143) easily fit RVs. Pro tip: fill up before crossing into the Keys, prices climb the further south you go on US-1.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
Book early and you'll have your pick of the best sites. Florida State Parks like Koreshan open reservations 11 months ahead for residents and 10 months for non-residents through the Florida State Parks reservation system (ReserveAmerica), and winter weekends sell out almost immediately. Private parks like Seminole Campground and Upriver RV Resort fill up 2 to 4 months out for January through March. For shoulder-season trips (May, October), 2 to 4 weeks is usually plenty. Pro tip: set a calendar alert exactly 10 months before your desired Koreshan arrival date at 8 a.m. Eastern, that's when most cancellations and openings appear.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
Driving here is refreshingly easy: flat terrain, wide roads, and no mountain passes. Lochmoor Waterway Estates sits in Lee County just off US-41 and the Caloosahatchee Bridge, with toll-free access into downtown Fort Myers and quick connections to I-75. Watch for afternoon thunderstorms in summer (pull over and wait, they pass in 20 minutes), occasional fog on bridges at dawn, and slower snowbird traffic from December to March. The Caloosahatchee Bridge has a 55 ft vertical clearance, so no worries for any RV. Pro tip: avoid US-41 through Fort Myers between 4 and 6 p.m., take Veterans Memorial Parkway across Cape Coral instead.
fdot.gov/traffic/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
Expect full-service comfort. Most private RV parks near Lochmoor Waterway Estates (Seminole, Upriver, Raintree) offer full hookups with 30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer, heated pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, and dump stations. Koreshan State Park has water and 30/50 amp electric at each site plus a centralized dump station ($10 fee for non-campers), hot showers, and a laundry room. Potable water fills are easy to find at any of these parks, and most allow a quick top-off on departure day. Pro tip: if you're boondocking a night somewhere first, Seminole Campground welcomes day-use dumping for a small fee, a handy reset before your next stop.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/koreshan-state-park/experiences-amenitiesWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Lochmoor Waterway Estates?
You'll feel right at home. Most motorhome rental Lochmoor Waterway Estates listings come fully equipped: queen or king bed, bunk options, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, cookware), bathroom with shower and toilet, AC and furnace, dinette, TV, and seatbelted seating for travel. Campervan rental Lochmoor Waterway Estates options are more compact but still include a bed, kitchenette, and either an indoor or portable bath setup. Many rigs include a generator and house battery for off-grid AC and lights. Pro tip: AC is non-negotiable in Florida, so confirm the listing has a working rooftop unit and ask the host about running it on shore power overnight at humid campgrounds.
energy.gov/energysaver/air-conditioningWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Popular add-ons on RV rental Florida listings near Lochmoor Waterway Estates include linens and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), camping chairs and tables, bikes, kayaks (perfect for the Caloosahatchee and Estero Rivers), portable grills, generators, and beach gear. Pickup is usually at the host's home in North Fort Myers or Cape Coral, with delivery available for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies vary by listing (100 to 150 miles/day is common, with unlimited-mileage options for road-trippers). Pro tip: bundle linens and a kitchen kit on your first booking; the small upcharge saves a Walmart run on arrival day and gets your family RV trip Lochmoor Waterway Estates off to a smooth start.
visitflorida.com/places-to-go/southwest/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy by credit card at booking, and your rental total is held by the platform (not the host) until your trip starts. A refundable security deposit is placed on your card before pickup, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV, and it's separate from your booking payment and released after drop-off if everything checks out. To avoid issues, do a walkaround video with your host at pickup and again at return so condition is crystal clear. Pro tip: bring your RV back with the same fuel level and a tidy interior; that single habit is the #1 reason renters in Lochmoor Waterway Estates get their full deposit back fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I handle the Florida heat and summer storms in an RV?
With a little planning, summer in an RV here is genuinely fun. Choose a rental with a strong rooftop AC and 30/50 amp service so you can run it nonstop at campgrounds, drive in the cooler morning hours, and park in shaded sites (Seminole and Koreshan both have plenty of oak canopy). Afternoon thunderstorms roll in like clockwork between 2 and 5 p.m. from June to September, so plan beach mornings and indoor or under-awning afternoons. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30; monitor the National Hurricane Center if a system is named. Pro tip: shoulder months (April, May, October, November) deliver warm Gulf beach weather without the peak heat, and rates drop noticeably.
