Campgrounds near Manasota Key
Manasota Key is an 11-mile barrier island on Florida's Gulf Coast in Charlotte and Sarasota counties, roughly halfway between Tampa and Fort Myers. The island itself has no RV campgrounds, so travelers base themselves on the mainland in and around Englewood, North Port, Venice, and Punta Gorda, then drive across the bridge for beach days.
The closest options sit along the Myakka River and the Venice corridor. Myakka River RV Resort and Myakka River Motorcoach Resort cater to larger rigs and Class A travelers, while Ramblers Rest RV Campground and Camp Venice Retreat put renters within a short drive of Venice beaches and Myakka River paddling routes. Harbor Lakes RV Resort, closer to Punta Gorda, works well for families combining Manasota Key days with trips to Charlotte Harbor.
Public land camping in the area is anchored by Myakka River State Park east of Sarasota, which offers full-facility and primitive sites inside one of Florida's oldest and largest state parks.
Things to do near Manasota Key
The island's main draw is the beach. At the southwest corner of Charlotte County, Stump Pass Beach State Park has a mile of beach where seashells and shark teeth wash up, anglers fish the surf, and shelling is best during the winter months. Visitors can launch a kayak and paddle around the small islands just east of the park's land base.
Inland, Myakka River State Park protects its namesake river within 58 square miles of hammocks, pine flatwoods, and wildlife-filled wetlands, home to roseate spoonbills, wading birds, and American alligators, with kayaking, canoeing, guided boat tours, a canopy walkway, and miles of hiking and biking trails. Don Pedro Island State Park, reached by boat, offers a quiet Gulf-side experience.
Families also use mainland base camps to reach Venice for shark-tooth hunting and Punta Gorda for harbor cruises.

Southwest Florida runs on a dry-season, wet-season cycle rather than four traditional seasons. In the Englewood area, summers are long, hot, humid, and wet, while winters are short, mild, and drier. Winter and early spring are the peak RV window: mild temperatures, low humidity, and calm evenings pull snowbirds into the region, and RV parks along the Myakka corridor often book out months in advance from January through March.
Late spring is a shoulder window with warm water and thinning crowds. Summer brings near-daily afternoon thunderstorms and the highest humidity, along with the Atlantic hurricane season, which peaks in September. Renters traveling in late summer and early fall should watch tropical forecasts and confirm park closure policies before arrival.
Shelling is best in the cooler months, and cooler weather also makes wildlife viewing at Myakka River State Park more comfortable, since alligators, wading birds, and deer are easier to spot along the river and prairies.

Michael W. - Jan 2026
This was our first family RV trip. I have experience with big rigs, but my only RV experience was in my childhood. We needed to make a quick weekend trip with lots of driving. Taking an RV was a great way to get the miles, and be able to comfortably rest when needed. We made it to our event, and were able to rest for a few hours when we arrived. It was wonderful. The kids loved the space and freedom, and our family if 6 had a bed for each kid, so no sharing!! The RV is pet friendly, but for us non pet owners, it was clean and fresh, so rest assured, if you’re a non pet person, it’ll be great! The value was excellent, and Aaron went above and beyond. We even took on some minor road damage, and Aaron was able to correct everything himself, and kept us in our budget. He could have easily sent this to the shop, and hit up big charges. It’s evident he cares about his renters, and their experience! It was an A+ experience, and my kids have already asked when are we doing it again. Which is crazy, because it was a 1600 mile car ride in3.5 days! Kids never ask to ride in our Car for that long, but they loved the RV! If you’ve been dreaming about it, do it, YOLO! But maybe pick a shorter drive than we did for your first time.

How to book campgrounds near Manasota Key
Private RV resorts in the area, including Myakka River RV Resort, Myakka River Motorcoach Resort, Ramblers Rest RV Campground, Harbor Lakes RV Resort, and Camp Venice Retreat, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For winter stays, book as early as possible; many snowbirds rebook the same site year after year, so availability tightens by late summer.
For Myakka River State Park, campsites can be reserved through the Florida State Parks reservations website or by calling 800-326-3521. Florida residents can book up to 11 months in advance and non-residents up to 10 months in advance, with same-day reservations available online or by phone until 1 p.m. ET.
What to expect
Expect flat, sandy terrain, easy driving on paved county roads, and short bridges onto the barrier islands. Manasota Key itself is narrow and residential, with limited parking at beach accesses, so most RV renters leave the rig at the campground and take a tow vehicle over the bridge.
Myakka River State Park campsites offer water and electric hookups with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill, and all sites are within about 40 yards of restrooms with hot showers. Private resorts along the Myakka and in Venice typically provide full hookups, laundry, and pools. Expect mosquitoes and no-see-ums near mangroves at dusk, alligators in freshwater ponds and rivers, and strong sun year-round. Drought-driven burn bans do occur, restricting open flames and campfires while still allowing barbecue grills and pits that do not exceed three feet in diameter for cooking.

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Manasota Key, Florida. No commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement is required for any motorhome or travel trailer on the RVezy platform, whether you are driving a compact campervan or a Class C coach down to Englewood Beach. Approved renters are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID directly through the booking platform. Visiting from outside the US? help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Manasota Key RV booking?
Booking an RV rental in Manasota Key is low-risk because RVezy sets a standardized cancellation policy across the platform, not the individual host. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date, and you can review the full terms on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm. If a host cancels on you, RVezy helps you rebook or provides a refund or travel credit, which matters during Florida's June through November hurricane season. Lock in your dates now so you do not miss out on a peak-season Englewood Beach rental, and adjust later if your plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Manasota Key RV trip?
Absolutely, and Manasota Key is a fantastic place for it. Plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Manasota Key, so just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see your matches instantly. Once you arrive, head to Brohard Paw Park in nearby Venice, the only Gulf-front beach in the area where dogs are allowed off-leash in the surf. Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey welcomes leashed dogs on its trails and at its campground, and Lemon Bay Park in Englewood has shaded paw-friendly walking paths. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee or size limit, and ask about a dog-rinsing hose for sandy paws after beach days.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/oscar-scherer-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground or beach house?
Yes, RV delivery in Manasota Key is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you have never towed a trailer. Many local hosts will deliver and set up the RV at popular spots like Encore Royal Coachman in Nokomis, Myakka River State Park near Sarasota, or a private driveway in Englewood or Grove City. They will level the rig, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees are set by each host and depend on distance, but for first-timers it is worth it. Pro tip: filter for Delivery on the RVezy search page and message two or three hosts to compare quotes for your exact campsite.

Pro tip: Florida state park sites open exactly 11 months in advance on the Florida State Parks reservation system, and prime winter dates at Myakka book up quickly, so set a calendar alert.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/myakka-river-state-parkWhen is the best time to visit Manasota Key in an RV?
The sweet spot for an RV trip to Manasota Key is October through May, when daytime highs typically sit in the mid 70s to mid 80s and humidity eases. February and March are peak snowbird season, with sunny days perfect for beachcombing at Caspersen Beach, known for shark teeth. November and December are among the drier months and a smart pick for fewer crowds and lower rental rates. Summers run hot and stormy, with highs near 90 and frequent afternoon thunderstorms from June through September, which also overlaps with Atlantic hurricane season. Pro tip: book a January or early February motorhome rental in Manasota Key at least three months ahead, since this is the busiest stretch along the Gulf Coast.
weather.gov/tbw/I've never driven an RV before. Is Manasota Key a good place to start?
Manasota Key is one of the friendlier places in Florida for first time renting an RV. Roads on the mainland side, like SR-776 and US-41, are wide, flat, and well-marked, with plenty of large shoulders and gas stations that can handle big rigs. The key itself has a 35 mph limit and a single road, Beach Road, that's easy to navigate. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, leveling, holding tanks and the propane system, so you won't drive away guessing. If you're nervous about towing, choose a Class C motorhome or book delivery so the host handles everything. Pro tip: practice a few right turns in the empty lot at Englewood Beach early in the morning before you commit to a campground arrival.
fdot.gov/safetyWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Manasota Key booked on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flats, lockouts, dead batteries, towing and mechanical breakdowns. If you have an issue at 2 a.m. at Myakka River State Park or on the side of US-41, one phone call dispatches help. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during and after every trip to help mediate any issue with the host. Most local hosts live within 30 minutes of the key and will often drive out for quick fixes. Save both numbers in your phone before pickup and screenshot the listing so you have it offline.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Manasota Key rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?
Most hosts are happy to let you cross state lines, so a road trip from Manasota Key up to Savannah, Georgia (about 380 miles), or out to New Orleans (around 870 miles) is absolutely doable. Travel into Canada may be allowed on some bookings depending on the host's permission and the protection plan selected, so message the host directly before booking if Canada is on your route. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. Pro tip: confirm any out-of-state or cross-border plans in writing through the RVezy message thread so everyone is aligned, then enjoy the open road knowing your coverage follows you.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Manasota Key RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to predict on a Manasota Key RV trip because the terrain here is flat and you won't burn extra gas climbing hills. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class A coaches 6 to 8 mpg, and a truck towing a travel trailer averages 10 to 12 mpg. Florida gas prices generally run close to the national average, with Wawa, Costco in Sarasota (off University Parkway), and the Sam's Club in Port Charlotte usually offering the lowest pump prices in the area. For a 500-mile loop through Englewood, Sarasota and Myakka River State Park, budget roughly $150 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up on the mainland before crossing onto the key, where there are no gas stations.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Manasota Key?
For the best campgrounds near Manasota Key, book as early as possible, especially if you are targeting winter. Florida State Parks like Myakka River and Oscar Scherer release sites exactly 11 months ahead through the Florida State Parks reservation system, and prime January through March dates often sell out within minutes of opening. Private resorts like Encore Royal Coachman and Sun-N-Fun typically book three to six months ahead for peak snowbird season. Shoulder season (April, May, October, November) is more forgiving, with sites often available a week or two out. Pro tip: if your dream state park dates are gone, set a cancellation alert, then book the RVezy delivery option so the rig can meet you the moment a site opens.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservationsWhat are the local driving conditions like around Manasota Key?
Driving an RV around Manasota Key is refreshingly straightforward. The terrain is flat, and roads like US-41 (the Tamiami Trail), SR-776 and I-75 are wide and well-maintained, with no mountain passes or tight switchbacks. Two bridges, the Tom Adams Bridge and the Manasota Key Bridge, connect the key to the mainland, and both have posted weight and size limits, so very large Class A motorhomes and big fifth wheels are best parked at mainland Englewood campgrounds while you visit the beach by car. Watch for summer afternoon thunderstorms (often 3 to 5 p.m. June through September) that can briefly flood low-lying roads. Pro tip: drive early in the morning to avoid both heat and storms, and never park overnight on Beach Road itself.
fdot.gov/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Manasota Key?
Campgrounds near Manasota Key range from full-service resorts to no-frills state parks, so you can pick your comfort level. Private parks like Encore Royal Coachman, Sun-N-Fun and Englewood Beach RV Resort offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), heated pools, laundry, Wi-Fi, pickleball and on-site dump stations. State park campgrounds at Myakka River and Oscar Scherer offer water and 30-amp electric at each site, hot showers, and a central dump station, but no sewer hookups at individual sites. Free RV dump stations are available at the Charlotte County landfill in Punta Gorda and several Flying J truck stops along I-75. Pro tip: fill your fresh water tank before crossing onto the key, since there are no public water fills on Manasota Key itself.
charlottecountyfl.gov/services/wasterecycling/What's typically included inside an RVezy rental near Manasota Key?
Most RVs you'll find for rent in Manasota Key come loaded for beach living. Expect a queen or king bed, a full kitchen with fridge, microwave, stove and sink, an enclosed bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette seating that converts to extra sleeping space, roof-mounted air conditioning (a must on the Gulf Coast), and seatbelts for every passenger required by Florida law. Many listings also include a generator for boondocking, an outdoor shower for rinsing off sand, a TV with streaming setup, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. Class B campervan rental Manasota Key options are perfect for couples, while Class C and travel trailers sleep families of 4 to 8 comfortably. Pro tip: check the listing photos for an outdoor shower, your sandy feet will thank you after a day at Englewood Beach.
flhsmv.gov/safety-center/consumer-education/recreational-vehicles/What add-ons and options do hosts offer for Manasota Key rentals?
Hosts in Manasota Key offer add-ons that make beach trips easier. Popular extras include beach chairs and umbrellas, kayaks and paddleboards (great for Lemon Bay), bikes, portable grills, generators, linen and kitchen kits, and outdoor mats. Delivery and setup to campgrounds like Myakka River State Park or Encore Royal Coachman is priced by each host and usually based on distance, with pickup and dropoff times agreed in the message thread before booking. Mileage policies vary: some hosts offer a daily mileage allowance, while others provide RV rental with unlimited mileage for stationary stays. Pro tip: if you are staying put at one campground for the week, look for a host who offers a flat-rate delivery or unlimited-mileage package, it often beats paying per mile.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Manasota%20Key%2C%20FloridaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay for your Manasota Key RV rental entirely through the RVezy platform with a credit card, never cash or transfer directly to the host. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is a temporary authorization hold placed on your card before pickup, typically a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the RV. The hold is released after the trip ends and the host confirms the RV was returned in good shape. Keep the trip stress-free by doing a walkaround video with the host at pickup and dropoff, returning the rig clean with the same fuel and propane levels, and dumping the tanks unless the host says otherwise. Pro tip: photograph the odometer and fuel gauge at both pickup and dropoff for a paper trail.
