Campgrounds and RV parks near North Sarasota, FL

Beach days anchor most trips. Siesta Key, Lido Key, and Longboat Key are all within a short drive, and Siesta's quartz sand is a common day-trip target for families staying at Sarasota Lakes RV Resort or Arbor Terrace RV Resort. Downtown Sarasota adds the Ringling Museum, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, and St. Armands Circle for shopping and dining. For outdoor time, Myakka River State Park offers wildlife drives, a canopy walkway, airboat tours, and paddling on the Upper Myakka Lake. Oscar Scherer State Park has swimming, hiking, and biking loops. Anglers and paddlers staying at Linger Lodge RV Resort and Restaurant have direct river access to the Braden River system.

Peak season runs from January through March, when snowbird demand fills most private RV resorts near Sarasota. Palm Terrace, Sarasota Lakes RV Resort, Tropical Gardens RV Park, Arbor Terrace RV Resort, and Linger Lodge RV Resort and Restaurant all skew heavily toward monthly and seasonal winter guests, so short nightly stays should be booked months ahead. Late spring and early fall are shoulder seasons with lighter demand and easier last-minute availability, though afternoon thunderstorms are frequent from June through September. Summer is the wet season, with daily rain and high humidity; it is also Atlantic hurricane season, which peaks from mid-August through October and can prompt evacuation orders in Sarasota County coastal zones. Drought conditions can also trigger county burn bans that suspend open flames and campfires at Myakka River State Park, so travelers planning campfire cooking should confirm current rules before arrival.

Private RV resorts near North Sarasota are typically paved or hard-packed with full hookups, laundry, pools, and clubhouses geared toward long-stay winter guests. Sites tend to be close together and community-oriented rather than wooded, and many parks have age or length restrictions, so renters should confirm rig-length limits before booking. At Myakka River State Park, expect three developed campgrounds: Big Flats and Old Prairie with water and electric hookups for smaller rigs, and Palmetto Ridge with 42 gravel-pad sites and full hookups that can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet. A dump station is located near Old Prairie Campground, and laundry facilities are available in Old Prairie and Palmetto Ridge campgrounds. Well-behaved pets are welcome in these three campgrounds, up to four per site. Wildlife is active year-round. Alligators, wading birds, deer, and feral hogs are common in the Myakka basin, and mosquitoes are heavy from late spring through fall.
