Campgrounds and RV parks near Ridge Wood Heights, FL

Ridge Wood Heights sits in south Sarasota, Florida, a short drive from Siesta Key, downtown Sarasota, and the Gulf Coast beaches. The neighborhood works well as an RV base because full-hookup parks are clustered along Tamiami Trail and Fruitville Road, and two Florida state parks (Myakka River and Oscar Scherer) sit within a 30-minute drive for day trips. Close-in private options include Sarasota Sunny South RV and MH Park and Royal Palms Mobile Home Park on South Tamiami Trail, both age-restricted 55+ communities geared toward snowbirds. Palm Terrace on North Lockwood Ridge Road is another 55+ park with full hookups. Sun Outdoors Sarasota (formerly Sun N Fun Resort) is an all-ages RV resort on Fruitville Road with more than 150 on-site activities, and Sarasota Lakes RV Resort off University Parkway is a gated RV community that welcomes short-term travelers of any age. For renters, the practical choice comes down to age policy, rig length, and how close visitors want to be to the beaches versus the inland state parks.

Reservation systems split by operator. Florida State Parks, including Myakka River and Oscar Scherer, are booked through the official Florida State Parks reservation website. Florida residents may reserve up to 11 months in advance, while non-residents may reserve up to 10 months out, with new inventory opening daily at 8 a.m. Eastern time. Popular winter dates often book the moment the window opens. Private resorts such as Sun Outdoors Sarasota, Sarasota Lakes RV Resort, Sarasota Sunny South RV and MH Park, Royal Palms Mobile Home Park, and Palm Terrace are booked directly through each park's website or front office rather than a central portal. For winter stays near Ridge Wood Heights, booking six to twelve months out is realistic; summer weekends generally open up on shorter notice.
