Campgrounds and RV parks near Roseland, FL

The main draw is the water. Sebastian Inlet State Park is known for surfing at breaks along the north jetty, along with beach walking, fishing from the jetties, and paddling the calmer waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Two on-site museums cover area history: the McLarty Treasure Museum highlights the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet, and the Sebastian Fishing Museum chronicles the local fishing industry. Loggerheads are the most abundant sea turtle species at the park, and rangers run guided sea turtle walks during nesting season. A short drive south leads to Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, the nation's first national wildlife refuge, with a boardwalk trail and several miles of foot trails through salt marsh, mangroves, and maritime hammock. Manatees and migratory shorebirds are common in the brackish tributaries around the inlet.

Winter and early spring are the busiest months. Snowbirds fill private parks from December through March, and coastal state-park sites go quickly. Cooler, drier weather makes it the best window for birding, hiking, and beach days without heavy afternoon storms, and it aligns with peak manatee viewing in nearby tributaries. Late spring through summer is hot, humid, and increasingly wet. Sebastian Inlet State Park draws large day-use crowds in summer, so campers should arrive early to secure parking and expect busy beaches. Sea-turtle nesting peaks in June and July, which brings its own draw despite the heat and afternoon thunderstorms. Late summer and fall overlap with Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June through November and peaks in August and September. Storm impacts can lead to cancellations of camping reservations, so travelers should build in flexibility. October and November often deliver the best mix of open sites, cooler nights, and returning migratory birds.

Expect a compact, coastal setup. Sites at Sebastian Inlet sit close to the water: all 51 campsites have water and electrical hookups, a fire ring with grill, and a picnic table, with accessible sites, accessible restrooms, a dump station, and a Wi-Fi hotspot near the marina. There are no sewer hookups at individual sites. A pedestrian tunnel connects the campground side to the Atlantic beach and surf breaks. Bugs are a real factor. Campers should pack insect repellent year round, as no-see-ums and mosquitoes can be aggressive, particularly in warmer months, and shade is limited across much of the park. Private parks in the Sebastian area lean toward long-term and 55-plus communities with paved pads, laundry, and pools. Sites tend to be closer together than state-park loops, so families who want beach access often split time between a private base and a state-park stay.
