Campgrounds and RV parks near South Bradenton, FL

Beach days anchor most itineraries. Coquina Beach, Bradenton Beach, Cortez Beach, and Anna Maria Island's north end are all reachable within about 20 to 30 minutes by vehicle, and the free Anna Maria Island Trolley runs the length of the island. For freshwater and wildlife, Lake Manatee State Park sits along a large reservoir with fishing for bass, bluegill, and catfish. Myakka River State Park, roughly 40 minutes south, is known for alligators, an airboat concession, and a canopy walkway. In town, families can visit The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature, home to a planetarium and the Parker Manatee Rehabilitation Habitat, along with the Village of the Arts and the Riverwalk along the Manatee River. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are widely available on Sarasota Bay and the Braden River.

Winter is high season. From roughly December through March, snowbirds fill private RV resorts across the Bradenton and Sarasota area, and many parks book months out. Daytime highs sit in the low 70s Fahrenheit, humidity is low, and rainfall is limited, though fog can form overnight inland. Spring brings warmer, still-dry conditions and a shoulder period after Easter when availability improves. Late May marks the start of the wet season. Summer is hot and humid, with near-daily afternoon thunderstorms and heavy rainfall totals. The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and peak activity typically falls between mid-August and mid-October, so travelers should monitor National Hurricane Center advisories and confirm park storm policies. Fall cools gradually. October and November offer some of the year's most comfortable weather once the tropics quiet down, and reservations tighten again as winter approaches.

Private resorts near South Bradenton typically offer paved or gravel back-in sites, full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, Wi-Fi, laundry, and shared amenities such as pools, clubhouses, and shuffleboard. Many operate as 55-plus communities during the winter, so travelers with children should confirm age policies before booking. State park campgrounds provide water and electric hookups, picnic tables, fire rings, centralized restrooms and showers, and a dump station, but no sewer at the site. Cell coverage is generally reliable in the Bradenton metro area and weaker inside Myakka River State Park. Expect mosquitoes and no-see-ums near water, especially at dawn and dusk in the warm months. Alligators are present in most freshwater bodies, so keep pets leashed and away from shorelines.
