Water recreation drives most trips. Clinton Lake supports boating, fishing, and swimming, and the surrounding state park carries an extensive hike and bike trail network that connects directly to several campground loops. Perry Lake is known for channel catfish, walleye, and crappie fishing, and Perry State Park adds wooded hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails through upland forest. Cell coverage is generally decent in Lawrence and around the KOA but can drop off in wooded state park loops at Clinton and Perry. Firewood should be bought locally. Expect mosquitoes and ticks near the reservoirs from late spring through early fall. Quiet hours at Kansas state parks are typically enforced from 11 PM to 6 AM, and pets are allowed on leash at all listed campgrounds.
