Campgrounds and RV parks near Oskaloosa, KS

Water recreation drives most trips here. Perry Reservoir covers roughly 11,000 acres with more than 160 miles of shoreline, giving RV travelers plenty of room to boat, paddle, or fish from shore, and it has been named one of America's 100 best bass lakes. Perry State Park also has more than 25 miles of horse trails plus additional biking and hiking trails through wooded, rolling terrain. At Clinton Lake, families can mix trail time with lake time. The park has a 25-mile hike and bike trail, an archery range, 18-hole and 9-hole disc golf courses, a swim beach, a mountain bike skills course, a 3-acre trout pond, and a 1-acre children's fishing pond. A privately owned marina on Clinton Lake is one of the largest marina operations in the state, useful for boat rentals or fuel. Downtown Lawrence adds restaurants, museums, and University of Kansas events within a short drive.

Spring through fall is the practical camping window. Shower houses and camp hosts follow the warm season: the shower houses at Campground 1 - Clinton State Park are open from April through October, when the camp host is present. Primitive loops and self-registration sites remain accessible outside those months, but expect fewer services and reduced hours at entrance booths through the winter. Holidays fill fast and carry minimum-stay rules at Kansas state parks. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends all require multi-night minimum stays at Perry and Clinton, so plan those bookings well in advance. Summer brings the biggest crowds, warm lake temperatures, and afternoon thunderstorm risk. Late spring is the wettest stretch of the year, so pack for mud and check reservoir levels before towing in. Fall is a quieter, cooler option with reliable weekend availability and good fishing on both Perry and Clinton lakes. Winter camping is possible at limited primitive sites, but campground water at Clinton is typically shut off in November and turned back on by mid-April.

Site types vary by park. Clinton State Park has 368 total sites, including 102 with water and electricity on 30-amp service, 68 with water and electricity on 50/30-amp service, 34 with full hookups on 50/30/20-amp service with water and sewer, and 164 primitive sites. Perry offers a similar mix of standard water-and-electric loops plus primitive areas and cabins. Expect wooded, rolling terrain rather than open prairie, so shaded sites are common. Roads inside Clinton are largely paved and wide enough for two RVs to pass. At Kansas City West / Lawrence KOA Holiday, sites include pull-thru full hookups, KOA Patio sites, and deluxe cabins, plus a pool, laundry, and a dump station. Quiet hours at state parks are typically enforced from 11 PM to 6 AM, and pets must be leashed.
