Campgrounds and RV parks near Washington, KS

Washington sits in north-central Kansas near the Nebraska line, in a rural corner of the state where the nearest developed camping is spread across two reservoir systems and a pair of state recreation areas over the border. RV travelers typically base out of one of three areas: Milford Lake to the south (the largest lake in Kansas), Tuttle Creek Reservoir to the southeast, or the Little Blue River corridor to the north in Jefferson County, Nebraska. Options closest to town include Rock Creek Station State Recreation Area - Horse Camp in Nebraska, a small equestrian-focused area attached to a historical park on the Oregon Trail, and Rockford State Recreation Area Swimming Beach, a first-come lakeside campground. Farther afield, Fancy Creek - Tuttle Creek State Park offers primitive and electric sites on one of the state's larger reservoirs. For RV travelers wanting full hookups and a resort feel, Flagstop Resort and RV Park and Acorns Resort both sit on Milford Lake and cater to families, with cabins, beaches, and on-site amenities.

Kansas state parks in the region, including Fancy Creek - Tuttle Creek State Park, take reservations up to 364 days in advance through ReserveAmerica, kshuntfishcamp.com, the CampItKS app, or by calling the park office directly. A daily or annual vehicle permit is required at the gate in addition to the campsite fee. Reserve electric and full-hookup sites well ahead for summer weekends and holidays. Nebraska state areas use their own system. At Rock Creek Station State Recreation Area, reservations for half of the electrical campsites are accepted up to 180 days out, and all other camping is first-come, first-served with fees paid at a locked Iron Ranger box. Rockford Lake sites are similarly first-come, first-served with iron ranger self-registration. Flagstop Resort and RV Park and Acorns Resort book directly through their own websites and offer nightly, weekly, and seasonal stays.
