Campgrounds and RV parks near East Douglas, MA

East Douglas sits in the southern Blackstone Valley of central Massachusetts, close to the Rhode Island and Connecticut borders. The village is a practical base for RV travelers because it puts several private lakeside campgrounds and a large public forest within a short drive, and it connects easily to Route 146 and I-395 for arrivals from Boston, Providence, Worcester, and Hartford. Douglas State Forest, a 6,282-acre state forest bordering both Connecticut and Rhode Island, anchors the area with swimming, boating and fishing at Wallum Lake and hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling on miles of woodland trails. The forest itself does not offer overnight RV or tent camping; facilities include two reservable day-use pavilions, a boat ramp, swimming beach, picnic area, and restrooms, so overnight stays happen at nearby private campgrounds. The closest RV-friendly options cluster around Lake Manchaug in Douglas and Sutton, with additional lakefront choices in Webster and, just across the state line, at the George Washington Management Area on Bowdish Reservoir in Rhode Island.

Private campgrounds handle their own reservations directly. Lake Manchaug Campground, Sutton Falls Camping Area, Indian Ranch Campground, and Bowdish Lake Camping Area all book through their own websites or by phone, and holiday weekends typically require full payment at the time of booking. Waterfront and full-hookup sites go first, so reserve as early as the season calendar allows. Massachusetts state parks use a centralized system. Walk-in registrations are not permitted for DCR facilities, but advance reservations can be made same day up until 2 p.m. on the date of arrival through the Mass DCR ReserveAmerica portal or by phone. For George Washington Management Area in Rhode Island, book through the Rhode Island State Parks portal on ReserveAmerica. Reservations can be made for today and up to 12 months in advance, and occupancy of the campsite is required on the first night, or the site is declared a no-show and reassigned with payment forfeited.
