Campgrounds and RV parks near North Pembroke, MA

North Pembroke sits on the South Shore of Massachusetts, roughly halfway between Boston and Cape Cod. The area gives RV travelers access to a mix of DCR-managed state parks, private RV parks, and primitive island camping in Boston Harbor, all within about an hour's drive. The closest full-service option for RVs is Wompatuck State Park in Hingham, a 260-site campground about 35 minutes from downtown Boston with roughly half of the sites offering electric hookups. South toward Plymouth, private parks such as Pinewood Lodge Campgrounds and Ellis Haven Family Campground add pond access, pools, and cabin rentals suited to families traveling with kids. For a very different overnight, the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park operates rustic tent sites reached by ferry from Hingham Shipyard. Sites on Boston Harbor Islands - Bumpkin Island and Boston Harbor Islands - Grape Island are currently not open for camping, so campers should confirm island status through the park before planning around them. RVs stay parked on the mainland while campers ferry over with gear.

Massachusetts DCR properties, including Wompatuck State Park and the Boston Harbor Islands campsites, are booked through ReserveAmerica. Reservations can be made up to four months prior to the arrival date, and advance reservations can be made same day up until 2 pm on the date of arrival. Walk-in registrations are not permitted. Private parks such as Pinewood Lodge Campgrounds and Ellis Haven Family Campground take reservations directly on their own websites or by phone, often opening winter bookings for the following summer. Popular pond-side and full-hookup sites should be locked in as early as possible. For the harbor islands, book the campsite first, then book ferry passage immediately after because ferry capacity from Hingham Shipyard is limited.
