Campgrounds and RV parks near Minnesota Lake, MN

Minnesota Lake sits in Faribault County in southern Minnesota, within an hour of Mankato and roughly ninety minutes south of the Twin Cities. The surrounding region mixes prairie, hardwood pockets, and the chain of glacial lakes that define south-central Minnesota, giving RV renters a straightforward base for lake-focused trips without long transit days. Campground options range from small trail-side parks to full-service family resorts. Sakatah Trail Campground and Shady Oaks Campground offer local RV sites, while Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort sits near Waseca and Kamp Dels occupies a lakeside setting on Lake Sakatah near Waterville. Minneopa State Park, west of Mankato, adds a public-land option with a mix of electric and non-electric sites. Most private parks in this area are seasonal, opening in spring and closing in early fall. State park sites at Minneopa are bookable year-round through the Minnesota DNR, though winter services are limited. RV renters planning summer weekends should reserve well ahead, since south-central Minnesota lake sites fill quickly.

State park sites at Minneopa State Park and other Minnesota DNR campgrounds are reserved through the Minnesota state parks reservation system, online 24 hours a day or by phone at 866-857-2757 during posted call-center hours. Reservations open up to 120 days in advance, and popular summer weekends often book out at the four-month window. Private parks use their own systems. Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort and Kamp Dels both accept online reservations through their websites, with Kamp Dels also listed on Campspot. Sakatah Trail Campground and Shady Oaks Campground handle bookings directly through their listings or by phone. For holiday weekends, families should book eight to twelve weeks out. Midweek stays and shoulder-season dates are far easier to secure and generally offer more site choice for larger RV rentals.
