Campgrounds and RV parks near Laurie, MO

The lake itself drives most trips: boating, waterskiing, tubing, fishing for bass and crappie, and swimming from public beaches. Rentals for pontoons, ski boats, and personal watercraft are available at marinas along both arms. On shore, Ha Ha Tonka State Park covers roughly 3,751 acres and features castle ruins, Missouri's 12th largest spring, karst geology, and more than 15 miles of trails. Bridal Cave stays around 60 degrees year-round and offers guided tours past stalactite formations, including a chapel where thousands of weddings have taken place. Stark Caverns adds another cave option with underground formations. Families can round out a trip with the Bagnell Dam Strip for shops and arcades, Willmore Lodge for free dam-history exhibits, and Big Surf Waterpark in Linn Creek during summer.

Summer is peak season. It is prime time for Lake of the Ozarks State Park, and the lake has a reputation as a party lake with heavier activity during peak months. Weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day book out well in advance at both private parks and state campgrounds, and boat traffic on the main channels is heavy. Spring and fall are the calmer shoulder seasons. Waters can be too chilly for swimming, but weather and landscapes are generally pleasant, and reservations are easier to secure. Fall brings hardwood color across the Ozark hills through October and into early November. Winter access is limited but possible. The Lake of the Ozarks State Park campground is open year round, though reservable months vary by section and water and showers are typically available April through October. Private lakeside parks often close or run reduced services from late fall through early spring, so callers should confirm availability before travel.

Terrain around Laurie is rolling Ozark hills with limestone bluffs and narrow lake coves. Roads off the highways can be steep and winding, so drivers of longer rigs should check site access and turnaround room before committing. Hookup availability varies. Private parks in the immediate area typically offer 30 and 50 amp electric with water and, at many locations, sewer. Lake of the Ozarks State Park offers basic, electric, and sewer/electric/water campsites, plus yurts, with a dump station, showers, and laundry on site. Water at individual campsites is generally seasonal. Cell coverage is usually strong near towns and marinas and thinner in state-park coves. Grocery, fuel, propane, and boat launches are all within a short drive from Laurie.
