Hill County Beaver Creek Park anchors most outdoor plans. Three designated hiking trails run through the park: Mount Otis Trail, Bear Paw Nature Trail, and Rotary Canyon Loop Trail. Mount Otis Trail is a 1.9 mile route that leads to a 360 view of the Bear Paw Mountains and takes about 1.3 hours on average to complete. Wild edible berries in the park include buffaloberries, chokecherries, juneberries, and gooseberries, and picking is popular in summer. The park also has fishable lakes and streams. Bearpaw Lake, also known as Second Lake, is home to Walleye, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout and Smallmouth Bass. In Havre, travelers can tour Fort Assinniboine, the Havre Historical Underground, and the Wahkpa Chu'gn buffalo jump archaeological site. Winter visitors have access to the tribally owned Bear Paw Ski Bowl for downhill and cross-country skiing.

In-town parks in Havre are practical stopovers with laundry, showers, and highway access, but they are compact and not scenic. Beaver Creek Park is the opposite experience. The park has only rustic and primitive camping: no individual hook-ups, no water, no sewer, no power, no internet, no cable, no provided amenities. Each site typically has a picnic table, firepit or fire ring, trash cans, and an outhouse within walking distance, and an RV dump site is located in the middle of the park by mile mark 18. Cell service is spotty in the canyon, so download maps before heading in and pack drinking water, layers, and bear-aware food storage.
