Campgrounds and RV parks near Clay Center, NE

Clay Center sits in south-central Nebraska, roughly 25 miles south of Hastings and about 40 miles south of Grand Island along the I-80 corridor. Climate normals for the area are drawn from a NOAA station in Clay Center itself, and the surrounding landscape is farm country cut by the Little Blue River drainage, with reservoirs and Corps of Engineers lakes within a short drive. RV travelers generally base out of the larger service towns rather than Clay Center proper. Hastings Campground and RV Park and the Adams County Fairgrounds in Hastings are the closest full-service options, with Prairie Oasis RV Park and Campground west along the interstate and Grand Island KOA Journey a common overnight stop for travelers on I-80. York KAMPground sits about an hour east and works well for trips continuing toward Lincoln or Omaha. Harlan County Reservoir, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offers fishing, hunting, boating, and hiking, making it the main public-lands draw within about an hour's drive.

Private parks including Hastings Campground and RV Park, Prairie Oasis RV Park and Campground, Grand Island KOA Journey, and York KAMPground take reservations directly on their websites or by phone, and typically hold sites with a card. The Adams County Fairgrounds handles bookings through the fairgrounds office and can be tight during fair week and racing events. For public campgrounds around Harlan County Lake, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages the sites and reservations are handled through Recreation.gov. Nebraska state park camping reservations are accepted 180 days in advance of arrival, and reservations become available each day at 9 a.m. CT. Popular summer weekends fill quickly, so book as early as the window allows.
