Albuquerque's Old Town, the ABQ BioPark, the Sandia Peak Tramway, and Petroglyph National Monument are all within a short drive. Central New Mexico has four distinct camping seasons. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable weather and are widely considered the prime windows for RV travel in the region. Summer days push into the 90s Fahrenheit, and travelers should plan for the North American Monsoon, which officially runs June 15 through September 30, with the most active stretch typically from mid-July through August and thunderstorms most common in the afternoon and evening. Monsoon storms can produce flash flooding in arroyos and low-lying areas, so RVers should avoid dry washes and check forecasts before setting up. Before the rains arrive, spring can bring strong winds and elevated wildfire risk, and state parks sometimes enter fire restrictions that prohibit open flames while still allowing liquid-fuel or LPG devices that can be turned on and off. Winters are cold but generally mild by North American standards, with occasional snow and daytime highs often climbing above freezing. Many private RV parks remain open year-round, while some higher-elevation state parks close or reduce services from late fall through early spring.

Sites near Adelino range from full-hookup pull-throughs at highway-adjacent parks to more rustic, electric-only sites in the mountains. Most private parks offer 30- and 50-amp service, dump stations, laundry, and Wi-Fi of variable quality. Cell coverage is generally strong along the I-25 and I-40 corridors and drops off in the Manzano foothills. Expect high-desert conditions: intense sun, low humidity, cool nights even in summer, and dust when winds pick up. Water is a limited resource, so top off tanks when possible. Wildlife, including coyotes and rattlesnakes, is present, so keep pets leashed and food secured. Train noise is a common note at parks near the BNSF and Rail Runner corridor, and I-25 and I-40 traffic can be audible at freeway-adjacent sites. Bring shade, sun protection, extra drinking water, and layered clothing for the daily temperature swing.
