Campgrounds and RV parks near Cedar Hill, NM

Cedar Hill is a small community in San Juan County, northern New Mexico, sitting along US-550 between Aztec and the Colorado state line. The area functions as a base for Navajo Lake State Park, the San Juan River tailwaters, and day trips north into Durango and the San Juan Mountains. RV travelers typically stage here for water recreation, fly fishing, and access to Ancestral Puebloan sites at Aztec Ruins and Chaco Culture National Historical Park. Most full-hookup RV parks cluster along the US-550 corridor and near Durango, about forty minutes north. Summers are hot and dry and winters are cold and snowy, so RV travelers plan accordingly. Tico Time RV Resort sits on the Animas River between Cedar Hill and Durango, while Ruins Road RV Park and Campground and Moore's RV Park and Campground serve travelers closer to Aztec and Bloomfield. Durango Year Round RV Park and Durango Ranch RV Resort, LLC offer full-service options in the Durango area for rigs of most sizes. Cedar Hill sits at about 5,863 feet elevation, and higher ground rises toward Durango, so overnight temperatures stay cool even in midsummer.

Campsites at Navajo Lake State Park and other New Mexico State Parks are reserved through newmexicostateparks.reserveamerica.com. Reservations can be made for today and up to 6 months in advance, and holiday weekends book out early. A small number of first-come, first-served sites remain at each campground loop. Private RV parks in the Cedar Hill and Durango corridor, including Tico Time RV Resort, Ruins Road RV Park and Campground, Durango Ranch RV Resort, LLC, Durango Year Round RV Park, and Moore's RV Park and Campground, take reservations directly through their websites or by phone. Riverfront and pull-through sites go first, so book early for summer weekends. Chaco Culture and Mesa Verde campgrounds are handled through Recreation.gov and the Mesa Verde concessionaire respectively.
